Guitarist Chris Broderick (JAG PANZER, NEVERMORE) has uploaded a "five-octave arpeggio" video clip that was done for Guitar World's "Betcha Can't Play This" DVD. Check it out at this location.

Chris has been playing guitar since he was eleven years old and has been teaching for the last 14 years. Styles range from classical, rock, blues, and jazz. He started taking lessons at 14 years of age studying guitar as well as voice, violin, and piano. Chris has a degree in classical guitar music performance at the University of Denver and the Lamont School of Music. He has performed in many master classes including ones given by David Russell, Benjamin Verdery, and his primary instructor, Ricardo Iznaola. In addition, Chris has taken classes such as jazz improvisation, chord voicing, advanced music theory, and sight-reading.

Very cool!!! Should be even more exposure for a very talented guitarist! Do we know as of yet what issue this will appear in? Will it be the next October 2006 issue on sale August 1st or later? I'm just glad I'm a Guitar World subscriber and will be one of the first to get to check it out! Hmmm!? Wonder if ther was anymore footage recorded for that long-awaited instructional DVD?!!!

P.S.- I just got my second Ibanez RG7421 and am looking for a third ( maybe a RG1527 this time ) - I think I'm becoming converted!

Chris, how many licks are appearing? Ive seen two from the various previews.

Hey All,

That riff isn't going to appear in GW because it is on a 7 string, but there are two other examples that will appear in the Oct issue of Guitar World.

Hope you guys like them.
Chris.

We sure in the hell do! Awesome lick Chris, good job man!

Great lick Chris, haven't heard any cool 8 finger stuff in a while. For any other forum members that dig this style, check out T.J. Helmerich! He is one of the most amazing 8 finger players I've ever heard. If you can get a copy of Brett Garsed/T.J. Helmerich Quid Pro Quo or Exempt, surely do so ......jy

Hey Chris - was there anything specific you did to work on your right hand dexterity and fretting skill, or did you just run through scales and such with your right hand?

damn, i can´t watch the video!!!! i dunno why, but it sucks major!!! is there any chance to recieve a download, or something? that would be great!

I will put it up for download as well some time this week (hopefully). Also if you go to Yahoo videos and do a search for my name, I think you can download it there.

take care,
Chris.

that's weird. remember seeing a sweep talk with jeff loomis in GW last year and it was a seven string. oh well i still love that riff. the first time i saw it was at the camp i work at while i was on the computers with the 5 year olds i work with. they saw it and they were very entertained. you should come to the camp!

I guess the difference is that the majority of Chris' piece uses the Low B. You can't move it up a string and get the same or close enough effect. Jeff's licks could be cut off or moved around if you don't have a 7.

Who knows,

thats what they told me, and it makes sense. I'm just glad they still used the other two examples.

Take care, Chris.
