what do you guys do to make the snare really come out in a good way on your room/overhead tracks besides compression?
what made me ask this is i always tend to have an annoying snare in the room/overheads that doesnt sound bad by itself but it pokes out over the sampled snare in a bad way in the 400-1k area. it sounds like someone slapping a table
so i tend to find myself killing the snare in the overheads/room with limiting and eq instead of bringing it out and using it to beef up the sound like it seems like some here do.
