Black Sabbath new cd to be produced by Rubin...

If that happens, then I genuinely think we, as a community (metal as a whole, not just this forum) are obliged to make sure this guy never works for another metal band again.
I'm calling it now, if Fidelman works on this record, it will sound like shit.

i seriouly hope he will not make it "modern" sounding or industry standard
i cant imagine black sabbath with a modern sound and it should really not happen!

Rubin is all about feel, and I don't think even he possesses the kind of chi voodoo shit needed to get a bunch of 60 year olds to capture the same passion they had as 20 year olds, but of course that's what the target audience expects. I'm sure it will sound exactly like everybody just going through the motions in some multi-zillion dollar studio - like Michael Bay producing you and your grandpa looking at old photos. If I was producing this record, I would have them record to 70s era equipment so that even when the music sucks and the performance sucks, it will at least have a nostalgic feel to it.

2 words to predict how this album will sound - Epic Yawn.

Whos Fidelman? the guy that ruined death magnetic?

Yeah, he was left unsupervised to mix the biggest metal act's new album and sent it off to be mastered with it clipping like a mofo. Ted jensen the mastering engineer stated that it was brickwalled when it got to him and asked for his name to be removed from the album's credits. I can't believe it hasn't been remixed and available to swap for your old copy. I only listen to the gh3 rip. It's like buying the latest hollywood blockbuster on dvd to find half the picture missing.

i hope he realizes he's producing the most anticipated album ever made
which, in that case, can never live up to the expectations

Looks like there is already a petition to ban Greg Fidelman lol...

http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/death-magnetic-ban-greg-fidelman.html

"Petition:
Sign this petition to BAN GREG FIDELMAN from touching another potential album from any band, until this issue is addressed.

Death Magnetic, by Metallica, needs to be re-engineered, i.e., re-mixed to sound proper, and not "clip" on comon HQ speakers or components. Greg Fidelman should be banned from touching any album until he addresses this major production flaw and rectifies the situation either through public address, or corresponds with the re-mixing of the album to "normal" conditions."

Rick Rubin has ruined a few albums for me over the years. Jay Z had 99 problems and all of them were Rick Rubin.
