Last night, I went out to see Alone in the Dark with the intent of seeing a (possibly) OK movie with an amazing soundtrack. As the movie progressed, I began to become worried. First half hour...no Metal. Second half hour...no Metal. And this, in fact, became the story of the entire film, aside from ONE scene which, to my knowledge, didn't even feature any of the artists which were supposed to be on the soundtrack! The credits (which I did not stay all the way through for) featured Nightwish at the beginning. That was it, folks. If any of you go out to see AitD with the hope of hearing literally anything from the "soundtrack" that was supposedly featured in the film, you will be disappointed. I know I was. And doesn't this really decrease the significance of this being "the first time a Hollywood production receives an all Extreme Metal soundtrack"? Now, I understand there were songs that were "inspired by" the film, but to have almost NONE of them in the actual film? Well, that just plain sucks.

I heard about this and I was disapointed, and I also heard it was a horrible movie. I know on the television preview they played a Godsmack song, and Godsmack or not even on the damn soundtrack(not that that's bad thing).

Just like all the songs that weren't in Resident Evil Apocalypse.....it strikes me as odd,if they wanted to be making money, the record labels would be putting out s/t cds with popular bands on them.So what is this motivation of releasing cds with underground soundtracks?

I don't know if it's just me, but..if I really wanna hear songs from different bands, I'll download those tunes, or buy an album, not go to the movies and get disappointed if they don't play them during the film, that seems a bit ridiculous to me

Because Nucler Blast and Century Media are trying to become major lables and sell a lot of records, by shoving Bloodbath, Kataklysm, Napalm Death etc on a soundtrack with Roadrunner's mainstream flavour of the week bands you get a lot of publicity and the little shits'll buy it to look "rocker than thou".

if it gets people off mainstream shite and into the underground, that's got to be a good thing. We all went found the underground in different ways, and if you're right,it's sneaky, but maybe effective!
