bloodbath "The Fathomless Mastery"

I'm loving this new album - the mix is a bit weird. There's tons of mids in the guitars, with no real tight low end chunk. But damn do I love that drummer! :kickass:

Is it wrong that I like this more than the newest Opeth??

fack yeah. the drumming is sweet. i think resurrection through carnage had a prominent guitar sound that buried the drums abit. this one has a lo fi guitar sound, but the drums sound stellar. love the snare and hi hat work

The drums get a bit lost in this mix as well - but I think it's because the drums sound really natural. There's some actual dynamics in death metal hahaha. Actually, this whole mix sounds very natural - guitars don't sound too processed or anything. I'd be interested in knowing what gear they used to track this.

It's an excellent album that gets better with each listen :) The mix is weird, but I guess they wanted more of that old school early 90's Swedish death metal sound. With that in mind, I believe the guitars are done with a Peavey Transtube and Boss HM-2, or something similar.
