Check out the line up at this years Rock and Blues custom show at www.rockandblues.uk.com
Doro Pesch - Rose Tattoo - BLAZE - Girlschool - Riff Master General.

Now if thats not a quality night of old school metal I don't know what is. And not a parpy euro symphonic metal band in sight! :)

I went to Rockandblues year before last when Motorhead headlined and it is a good fun weekend (I'll probably go this year too). However for quality music it doesn't even come to close to Bloodstock. The Levellers can hardly be called a Metal band and I've never heard of The Blockheads. And come on there's even a Dance/Rave tent there. Don't get me wrong the bands you've mentioned there are quality. But RockandBlues is a Rock and Blues Festival aimed at Harley Davidson Fans organised by Harley Davidson fans and not a metal festival aimed at true metal fans organised by true metal fans.

Its a good alternative or even a great added extra just for the Saturday night though ain't it. Not often we get a selection of metal bands like that all together (with added "adult entertainment!"), but yeah I see the difference as you explained.

Personally I prefer the line up at Rock n Blues even with The Levellers and The Blockheads (remember Ian Dury?) as they are both good live bands, and with Blaze, Doro etc you can't go wrong.
I only have heard stuff by about half of the Bloodstock line up and apart from Diamond Head, Gamma Ray and Biomechanical I can't say I think much of them.
Still, roll on Bloodstock 03!

yes i am up twice in a month to derbyshire from essex.
these bands at the rock and blues on the sat night would have made an excellent bloodstock.
but i am still going to bloodstock as the say where else can you see so many new bands to the vast majority of the uk in one place.
for the 2 weekends i am looking forward to getting off me face with a few old greats at rock and blues and hoping to get some new greats at bloodstock.
kind of a shame that the rock night at pentrich was not the friday night of bloodstock. now that would have been a weekend.
