FUCK ME IF WHOEVER SAW ME ACCIDENTALLY POST THIS IN THE STEWIE THREAD JUST CHALK IT UP TO ME BEING AN EASILY CONFUSED TARD

I'm re-reading Tom Wolfe's classic, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, wherein Wolfe initially tries to track down author Ken Kesey, who was a fugitive from the law because of two felony drug charges.

The book turned out to be more a penetrating view of the emerging psychedelic movement from the dying gasps of the bongo-playing beat culture...involving Kesey, Kerouac-famed Casady, the emergent Grateful Dead, Hells Angels, and the acid-addled Merry Pranksters.

LSD was still legal in this country, and what a strange but exciting time it must have been.

oh...plus I just started a mystery called Blood Atonement, and am almost done with The Last True Story I'll Ever Tell, about a reservist and his not very fun year + in Iraq.

and now, dammit, I've got to get that book about the Cathars.

Lizard, sounds like a great read. I'll keep it in mind. Eh, is it pre-Timothy Leary?

Just read Chuck Palahnuik - Invisible Monsters and Choke, both were awesome, and more than a bit disturbing.

I started CHoke, but couldn't finish t. Too boring.

I started the Dune series over again from the beginning. Best Sci-Fi ever!

do it! it's a great book. and i read part of phil lesh's recent autobiography, which i found to be a pretty cool and fast read, i recommend it. if you're into that 60s/70s drug/counter-culture stuff i also highly, highly recommend reading both the rum diary and fear and loathing; hunter s. is one of the greatest american journalists of all time, and anyone who disagrees is...misinformed :loco: ...definitely a distinct and enveloping style.

and to J. i would say, palahniuk is definitely not for everyone, but keep reading...i love choke but i could absolutely see why one would dislike it. whatever gets your heart thumpin' :headbang:

haha.

so is the other "books" thread not good enough for ya, huh!??! :loco:

i'm still working through dune, although haven't been reading much lately. too busy with the band and my porn collection.

I haven't read recreationally in over a year and a half now. School has kept me too busy, and when I've had off time... the ABSOLUTE last thing I've wanted to do is read. I do too much of that already.

That's why I play hockey(roller and video game) and drink instead. Much more fun.

last book I read was Druids by Morgan Llewelyn. Great story, but history fags whine about anachronisms and stuff like that, but I don't care. Intriguing, good read, whether it's true or not.

I don't read much and when I do it's pretty easy going stuff. I was never one to over-challenge myself.

hockey = teh most metuhl sport evarrr, i dare anyone to challenge me on this :p

who is insanely excited for october 5!? i'm so fucking hockey-deprived......i'm gonna try and make it to a couple portland winterhawks (minor league) games this year, hockey is the fucking best sport to watch live, period. there is nothing quite like a hockey game, except perhaps a metal show

as a class we're going to some vancouver Giants games, me and my cousin might go see a few canucks games.

At school i'm playing floor hockey, at home I'm playing roller hockey.

Hockey + beer = win.

I'd like to read FIght Club, but I admit didn't get Choke. A dude that works at a Renaissance Festival (or something) that pretends to CHoke on food to get free meals? duhwhat?

Maybe I just didn't make it far enough into the book to get the full plot.

Shift key problems again? :p
