BOOKS

Im about to finish the first book in the first law trilogy (the blade itself). Feels like a 500 page prologue or a super long season 1 of a TV show. Still can't figure out if I should read book two.

I feel like I'm walking into another ASOIF/GOT type book. A soft fantasy type book where the characters are not real heros, but ultimately fucking boring. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm going to go forward.

Fuck I can't wait for the new Expanse book.

I enjoy Abercrombie's cynical tone and his stories have good pacing but ultimately can't quite connect to his world building. Best served Cold is his best book imo and it's a standalone so no fear of signing up for months.

To those who enjoy fanatasy I'd recommend a book I really loved - "The Buried Giant" by Kazuo Ishiguro.
As much as fantasy is absolutely not my thing, this one is something else. It's also a non typical work for the writer himself, written in an dark english fairytale style with a beautiful meaning behind it.

.
I did end up liking logen and glocta quite a bit, but the series just isn't very good. The world, plot, and "point" of the story is very thin and uninteresting. Talk about a over rated fantasy series.

i will probably read his new trilogy eventually, but man you're right.

I did finally start Wheel of Time. I'm about 50% through the first book, and man does Jordan suck at writing sometimes. There is enough to keep me interested though.

I gave up again on WOT.

Especially when I saw a new Dune book, even though I know the characters in and out. Hopefully the new movie doesnt suck.
