What's up everyone? :D I've been working on a few things and this is the first one I really feel great about.

Enjoy this freebie y'all! 96k only, sorry  This is around 1gb of programs, several mics in several positions. More details in the README file.

The Vcab is a 1x12" open-back cabinet from VHT with a Celestion Vintage 30. In my experience, it is a very balanced and focused sounding cab. A controlled bass, thick midrange, and a creamy yet present top end are what you can expect out of this little wonder. Out of every guitar cabinet I've sampled thus far, this is the most universally usable. It sounds much bigger than a normal 1x12. This cab is ESPECIALLY good on lead guitar parts, in my opinion.

Demo Chain: Rose Of Sharyn DI's -> TSE808 2.0 -> LeCto -> botus99 VCab in Timed Mode (blend of 57, i5, and u87 between quad tracked guitars)
*Note: The Clean DI's were left as is. I ran out of processing power and was in a hurry haha. No HP/LP or other processing

I'm liking a lot these programs, thank you botus99. With only a bit of eq, fits well for metal.
I'm testing them at this moment, but I think they sound like a real cab.

Quick rose of sharyn test. Using backing track and only a limiter in the master, sometimes clips :headbang:
Old tubed peavey rockmaster into 1a and 3b nebula programs and a bit of eq.

Downloaded, will try it out as soon as I can.
Thanks a lot botus99 !

Just 2 questions :
Is there an optimal input level to work with these programs ?
What kind of poweramp was involved during the capture ?

botus99, what settings do you use in timed mode?
My pc is old and using timed mode only in clean kernel with 50ms I can't play even a single track, and it takes 7 minutes to bounce (the single track)

And I'm not able to find differences in the sound between timed and freqd mode :loco:

Here's my quick try :
TEST VCAB 0311 MASTER

Dual tracked guitars, amp is a MESA V-Twin rack with a Maxon OD808 in front.
I used 1a program with light room mic (3Rb program) blended under, both in timed mode.

I heard a kind of buggy program in the i5 ones (the low end sounded all fucked up), I think it was 2c or 2d.

Anyway I think it sounds pretty cool as it is, not as deep and wide as a 4x12 but it will be very well suited for old shcool kind of metal, and also great on clean and leads tones, each time with it own sound signature.

Nice job Botus, and kudos for letting it go as a freebie :headbang:

EDIT : FF666, in timed mode, I also use 50ms on clean kernels only. It takes a lot more on CPU, and the difference in sounds is mainly in transient response and clarity (even if it's subtle, but I think it sounds a bit better in timed mode).

PM'd :)

It's awesome to hear your guys' work! FF666, your demo is better than mine. I rarely work with metal anymore, I think my metal amp dialing skills are waning. Well done and glad you like it! Truie, you got a nice grit in your tone. I really like that bass tone in there too!

As far as timed kernels, 50ms is where I stick at. It's a CPU killer, but Truie nailed what it helps with. Clarifies the transients subtly and slightly thickens the sound. I usually mix in FreqD mode, then switch (while playback is stopped) to Timed mode before rendering.

These programs seem to work best between -14dbfs & -12dbfs in the testing I have done. A little bit hotter than the normal -18db standard.

In regards to the buggy programs, I have had someone else mention a couple to me. Without digging too deeply, my guess is that it was caused by crackles in the audio during the convolution from having my buffer setting too low. I know there were some during at least a couple attempts that were made. I've noticed the glitches are level-dependent, leading me to believe that it happened in one or two dynamic levels. I was experimenting a lot, but had very limited time. One of those "light fuse, run away, and go do chores and clean shit until its done" type of operations so... that's my guess haha. These were just for my own personal use, so I didn't pay THAT close attention... apparently

Thank you,
FYI the bass uses a blend of natural DI, some V-Twin reamp, and an additional Boss HM-2 reamp track that brings the dirt !
Anyway, that's a very quick test and I didn't spent too much time on it.

How do you switch to freqd to timed mode ?
One instance at a time ?
If I do that with too much instances (and I do use some in a normal project), everything become slow and even clicking on file > export... etc can take some time to display !

Thank you for the input level insight, I did use something around -12 dB FS peak, I thought it sounded good like this.
Oh and don't worry for the broken program, it's already very nice to have this library for free (and Nebula cabs are not that common, so I'm very happy to have this one in my collection).

Do you plan on sampling another cabs you own ?

Dang, none of that would have been my guess. Very cool!

More or less, one at a time. I usually freeze my individual tracks, max out my busses, bounce... done. Thankfully my CPU has been an angel with me, even with this torture that I put it through

Already have, but I want to redo things. NAT is an interesting venture and I'm still learning the ins-and-outs. Kinda hard without a manual or any documentation anywhere :err:

Botus any new program? Your programs are great!

Appreciate the kind word Scott! Glad you like it! :kickass: I have 2 Marshall 1960A's (including one that was modified a LOT with different speakers, cabinet size, and wood), Mesa OS, and some other cheap ones (a Laney and Peavey). And I have a partially sampled Ampeg 4x10 that I wasn't able to finish before my buddy needed the cab back.

To be honest, I'm REAL hard on time right now. I'm considering resampling the cabs I've already done, selling them for $5 a cab, yadda yadda.

There are similar glitches to the VCab I released earlier in the other one's that I made. They became apparent after you guys helped point out the artifacts. I would hate to release (much less charge money) for something that wasn't 100%, but I also would hate to resample EVERYTHING. The way I do it takes about an 8-10hr session to do each cab (depending on how well they turn out, if I need to redo this or that, how many mics I use in how many positions, etc.)

So, I do use my programs a very often, and they work great for what I do. MUCH better than impulses, that's for sure! Because they weren't 100% done right, as I was only experimenting with NAT and sampling with Nebula, my brain wants to sell these in their current condition for some quick small cash (maybe through donations), while conscience wants to make it perfect before it goes out in the world. Hopefully you can understand my mindset (as screwed up as it may be :loco:)

Of course Botus I had thought that was very difficult to make great Nebula Cabinet programs. Thats why there are only a few out there for free. If it is a great work and you spend a lot of time on it a little charge is fair.

Just seeing that there is interest and that they're being used means more to me than I can express. I got some live gigs and session work the rest of this week, but I'll take another critical listen to what I have and find a way to get them out ASAP.

In the meantime, check out Henry Olonga's thread in the Nebula forum. He just released some free guitar and bass cabinet programs that are free and really sound incredible!
