br00tal ep masterd by injection_boy he's god

Very nice job on the music and as a whole, everything sounds great. If I had to criticize, I really think the drum tones are doing the mix a disservice, especially the snare. It kind of reminds me of the old drum machine sound Godflesh used to use on their old stuff and overall it seems very one dimensional and distracting. I'm not really digging the chopped off gate effect you've got going on the guitars. I'm sure you need the effect to tighten up the guitars and really make them cut, but it seems unnatural and ever so slightly out of time on certain parts. Again, those are just my opinions, so don't let that take away from the great work you've done.

1. Shadow_Walker was right in that the guitars are quite nasally.

It wasn't me :) Not that it matters much since I agree with Morgoe now that I'm listening to the songs again (last night I listened to it really quietly because it was 01:00 am.

and Splatt nailed some of the things I meant by saying drums are letting down the mix.

Hey dude, the guitars sound ridiculously full and fearsome; I do agree with Morgoe that they're a tad middy/boxy (and more importantly too loud relative to everything else IMO), but still, fucking terrifyingly middy/crunchy all the same; you and LosingReality are really making me change my mind on the 5150! I do feel the snare is too low though, and the kick a bit too "tick ticky" for my tastes. Also, the vox feel too loud a lot of the time; it's funny, I wanna say the drums feel too low, but I can still hear all of them perfectly, which is a credit to the mixing; still, bringing down the vox and guitars I think would help the overall balance! But man, what incredible separation on everything :kickass:

However, I'm sorry, but these vocals are just ridiculous  Oh, and I only listened to "Dismembered", btw

One thing though; I didn't really notice much automation; could you elaborate on exactly how you used it dude? (assuming you did)

listen to other songs marcus hahah dude i found out why my guitar tone just blows dick now

my amp hasn't had new tubes in 8 years

Can you specify which one has automation? Cuz I'd really rather not have to listen to all of them :D (good though the mix may be, it's the music I'm referring to)

And yeah, new tubes might help, though as long as your amp isn't making annoying noises, weak output, crapping out, etc., I dunno how much of a difference they'll make! (but I've always swapped the tubes immediately upon receiving a new amp and then kept them in there until I sold it, so I've never really compared)

Like I said dude, those new tubes are going to bring your amp to life. I remember feebly trying to record a Triple Recto with old tubes back in the day. Completely self defeating. All the tones you dial ALWAYS have this abundance of mids in the wrong places, and there is a stifled, muffled and lifeless edge to the tone that just translates into a lack of dimensionality on the record. This was with like 3 year-old tubes too. 8 years is just insane. The fact that those things are still ticking away and creating tone that doesn't sound totally like a flat, digital lump of turd is amazing.

+1! I'm amazed Ryan can get the tones he is getting out of 8 year old tubes.

lol. Epic tube life!
