**************Forest Stream - Album out 27th January!!************

Russian symphonic doom merchants Forest Stream are about to
unleash their debut album "Tears Of Mortal Solitude" to an
undeserving world. This album has already garnered rave reviews
in both Metal Hammer and Rock Sound magazines, the latter
calling this "an exceptional debut"!

This album showcases Forest Stream's passion for the dark and
their overwhelming sense of the epic and overblown. Musically it
harks back to the golden age of the early 90's - of the wave of
English doom bands, but also the unmistakable chill of the black
metal explosion in Norway. With a combination of those sounds
brought together with a modern approach, the sound is as fresh
as something quite so utterly crestfallen can possibly be.

Forest Stream are masters of their chosen art. Their songs are
hugely epic and wonderfully symphonic. They evoke mental
imagery of desolation, of lost love and of a bleak, unrelenting
despair. Each riff is carefully crafted for maximum, heartbreaking
effect; each word written designed to trigger the blackest of
thoughts.

*************Ephel Duath new album details:****************

Italian avant-garde sound magicians Ephel Duath have finally
recorded, mixed and mastered their second album "The Painter's
Palette". If you thought "Rephormula" was crazy, then this time
the band have pushed the boundaries further than ever thought
possible! Davide Tiso has assembled a whole new line-up, with
each new member bringing their own individual style and influence
into the melting pot. The end result is nothing short of staggering.

The Painter's Palette is a swirling, complex, multi-headed beast;
shimmying from dark to light and exploring as-yet uncharted areas
of the metal universe. This is avant-jazz-metal madness of the
most satisfying nature.

The artwork coincides with the concept of the album. The stark
monochrome imagery represents the artist's canvas, with the
songs themselves the colour to be used by the listener to make
his own aural masterpiece.

You think we're exaggerating about the sheer musical evolution
on display with this band here? Download this track "The
Passage" and tell us we're wrong.

***************Wolverine now recording! ****************

Swedish progressive wizards Wolverine are presently laying down
their new album "The Cold Light Of Monday", and from all reports
things are going well. The band hope to be finished by the end of
January and are confident that this album will represent a new
level of maturity for their complex and heartfelt brand of intelligent,
superior metal.

The band are updating their studio diary on a daily basis which
can be seen here:
http://www.wolverine-overdose.com/clomstudiodiary.htm

With their early death metal roots, and drawing influences from
70's acts such as Kansas, 80's stalwarts like Queensryche and
Fates Warning through to modern heroes like Dream Theater and
Pain Of Salvation, Wolverine aren't an easy listen for the less
distinguished ear. Those with the patience and a taste for the finer
things in life could do well to take Wolverine into their lives. An
example of their obvious abilities is available here:
http://www.wolverine-overdose.com/towards_loss.mp3 , taken
from the band's previous album "The Window Purpose" (thanks
to DVS records - www.dvsrecords.com).

****************Farmakon set to record! **************

Finland's death metal prodigies Farmakon are set for the studio on
February 1st to record their debut album. You can follow the
band's progress with the online diary here:
http://farmakon.suddenlaunch.com/index.cgi?board=studio

Having heard the band's new material it's easy to see that the
band are happily ignoring any trends and are carving their own
niche in this genre. While we hate to use the word "quirky", little
else can really describe what Farmakon are doing at the moment.
The riffs are unusual to say the least, the structures complex and
bewildering - they even occasionally lapse into smooth Jazz and
some wicked funk - but the bizarre parts make for an extremely
satisfying whole.

In a genre treading water in it's own plagiarism and mediocrity,
Farmakon stand head and shoulders above their peers. This
forthcoming album, tentatively entitled "A Warm Glimpse", will
showcase a young and energetic band with a whole lot to prove -
the old masters should duck for cover.

*********Lunaris put touring plans on hold*******************

Norway's progressive death / black metal maestros Lunaris have
stated that the work on their forthcoming album is now to take
priority over the band's possible live work in the immediate future.
This means the planned UK tour and the appearance at the
Inferno Festival will now no longer take place.

A few big-named producers are in the frame for the band's next
recording session, likely to be around May / June. There's no title
yet, but keyboard player Ray is very satisfied with the rehearsals,
proclaiming the new material to be far more aggressive than
before, without losing that technical edge.

We can't wait to hear the new stuff!

Infinite" can be downloaded here:

**************Rakoth's Tiny Deaths - Masters received***********

We now have the finished masters for the Russian avant-garde
trio's new album "Tiny Deaths". This recording shows a serious
evolution for the band. While they've maintained the elements of
their previous albums, the flutes and the maudlin vocals, the band
have pushed into an entirely new field altogether. Virtually turning
their backs on their black metal roots, Tiny Deaths can only be
described as experimental, atmospheric and sometimes even
psychedelic darkwave.

It's a bizarre chill-out album, perfect for those contemplative
moments when the lights are out. Replete with heady
soundscapes and blackened beats, Tiny Deaths showcases a
band treading their own path with no obvious influences and little
outside interference.

The title track "Tiny Deaths" is available for download here.
http://www.elitistrecords.co.uk/rakothtiny.mp3 .

Tiny Deaths is scheduled for an April 2003 release.
