Brent Averill 312a users?

I'm getting my grubby hands on one of these in a couple weeks, the single channel rack version.
I've read great reviews, and I was wondering if anyone around here used them and could share some thoughts?

I have 2 pairs of his 1272s but not the 312s... I'd be interested to hear how you like them.

I had a pair for awhile; they're cool pres. Don't expect them to sound like APIs though, as they don't really sound any more like APIs than most of the other pres I've used do. Way more bottom end (not always in a good way) and not as pushed in the upper mids as APIs. They are fast like APIs though, so they handle transients really well (good on drums). They're very versatile and sound good on most sources. I used mine on snare and guitars a lot when I had them.
