It's the best of new Maiden and old Maiden! It's got the feel of Paschendale...it has a galloping part like old Maiden...and Steve's classic bass lines are finally back. He's absolutely brilliant on this one. His bass lines during the quiet part where Bruce sings "Out of the darkness..."...well, they almost made me cry. H's solo is the best I've heard from him in years...and Janicks is quite good, too...if not a little odd...lol. I simply cannot tell you how much this song blew me away!

Ah, in true Nicko style! This is my favorite so far, though I am just not pleased with the way they record Bruce's vocals lately. It just doesn't showcase his magnificent vox as they should be IMHO. Is that because it's digital? I dunno...... I will get used to it someday. The songs do grow on ya the more you listen.

I would agree that his vocals are not a rich sounding, though he, as always, sings his butt off ! I like this song!

I like, it's based on music, and that is paramount, because you know formula music sucks, I do like the long stretched out songs that contain some rhythmical essence with a classical touch of theater.

As far as the degraded voice quality of digital recording, I would say it's most likely due to the fact that the songs are degraded for internet downloads, the true high quality files are the DVD.

Maybe they will do what Priest has done by having the CD on one side with the CD audio and a DVD on the other side with the Enhanced Stereo audio; when hooked up to the surround sound on phantom and patched to the stereo too, it’s head phone quality.

I agree on the vocal recording opinions here... As for this era of Bruce, his voice sounded much better on Tyranny of Souls than this album so I'm not sure what's the problem here... (infer what you may!). While I like what I hear, none of it so far has really grabbed me the way the older albums did. This album seems more "pop" and standard, if you can apply those terms to Maiden. The verses in the songs are pretty basic holding of chords and the bass lines simple. Lyrically Different World is pretty much Wildest Dreams part 2, which I again call "Pop" Maiden.

I'll reserve my final judgement for when I get the full album. But thus far I mark it as a steady step down from Brave New World, through Dance of Death, to this.

I have to say, when I learned that Bruce/Adrian rejoined the band and I first heard The Wicker Man, it sent chills down my spin. It HAD something of the old feel in there. Though not verbatim "golden era" Maiden, it reminded me of the tunes off The Number of the Beast. These songs remind me of tunes off Dance of Death.
