Bruno Mars´ Grenade metal cover

What kind of guitar is that? Shit looks sick. As for the song/mix. Overall everything sounds good. Kick is way to high in the mix. Guitars are a little muddy but it could be the kick masking them. Nice vox too ;)

Muy muy bien, the only thing I would look at was the Toms, they sounded a little "clicky" to me but overall I liked it.

Mi espanol es bueno? yo no se......no....no es bueno ;-)

cheers

dude i love your covers! specially love the over compressed vocal, like i can hear you breath inside my ears.

As for the kick, yea i think its a way to high, it also pumps your mix too much i think,, maybe too much limiting? (if i remember i said that about the other cover as well).

also something doesnt sit right to my ears in the chorus, the rythm guitars and kick are confusing me, maybe something with the kick part that doesnt match the guitars?

EDIT: how was the bass recorded?

good work

Hey, thanks for watching my vid and sharing your thoughts here!

Robert, this guitar is a O3 guitar. It´s custom made in Almeria, Spain and originally was owned by Ebony Ark guitar player (they are or were a Spanish Band). It has mahogany body and neck, ebony fingerboard, 26.5'' scale, flamed maple top, and Lundgren M7 on bridge and Seymour Duncan Jazz on neck. It´s beautifully made and sounds and plays great (has a thin neck, Ibanez style)

I agree in the kick, should have lowered and eqd it better...Also think that this time guitars sound a little muddy too...But was eager to mix it and upload the video :D

Silvermaples, hablas bien español! :D Thanks for the comment on the toms. Maybe too bright? Glad you liked it!

Aviel, thanks for watching and listening to my covers! I tend to compress vocals maybe too much, and, as you say, in the quiet parts, it seems like I´m very close to the listener :D I tried to lower the compression, but it sounded too low, so...compressed again. Maybe if I lowered bass drum and snare could get more volume with less compression...The chorus needs more work, it´s true. I think that I did the same with guitar and bass drum, but maybe I didn´t...

And bass is recorded using a POD XT Live. This time I split it into two tracks, and one of them has distortion in it and was eqd in a way that the clean part ads bass to the mix and the distorted part adds treble (more or less)...

Thanks for your comments!

this is actually pretty cool, it would be even cooler if you didnt overmaster it, the kick is clippingthe master heavily.
id work on the bass guitar, the mix lacks lower mids. i dont like the tempo jump into the chorus, its too much for my taste.
but hey, cool cover ! you have a great voice man!

Thanks, Dcb!

As many of you have said it, is there a way that I can get such high volume without overmastering it? Lowering the kick would do just fine or should I change other things in the mix/mastering? I appreciate your opinions a lot.

And you think I should enhance the mid frequencies on the bass? Around which ones, more or less?

The tempo jump worked better in my head, but with the song finished is a little abrupt, yeah.

But appreciate that, despite these flaws, you liked the cover and thanks for the comment about my voice.
