Brutal/Slam Death Metal

Whats the deal with you guys bitching about "sterile" production?
Theres some bands who have good production, and others who have crunchy production. Theyre both different sounds, and both are great for what they accomplish. Vomit The Soul's newest release may have had "sterile" production, but it was needed for the bass to be heard well in the mix, and every single instrument (including the vocalist) killed it. In a good way, of course.
I dont mind either production method. I just dont see why its such a big deal.

Same here... good production allows us to hear everything perfectly. But I admit that ultra bassy and crunchy production can had a brutal touch.

Eh, I just find it makes the music way too mechanical and boring. I mean, with some bands it can work, but Vomit The Soul just felt soulless, boring, and not nearly as heavy as people make it out to be.

I think you misinterpreted him. He said he normally doesn't like core, but this band was so good that he likes them despite their coreness.

lol. This is kinda what i meant. I never listen to core or slam. So i found the sound of DTG to be very interesting compared to the stuff i normally listen to.

Basically, the Slam sound made me want to learn more about his genre. And, since there is apparently alot better shit then DTG, i would LOVE to hear it.

Because i really don't know where to start. haha

Yep it's almost the only place on the net based only on slam death with this thread. Both made me discover a lot of bands that are now some of my favorites Metal bands (considering that I listen BDM, death metal and all grindcore subgenre more than everything).
Talking about slam death/grind : Poppy seed grinder have a new song on their myspace http://www.myspace.com/poppyseedgrinder. It sounds very good to me !
