What ya get?

Here's what I hear:

v1
Passing aeons, everlasting
Fight against the evil
Their army grows
All alone with the darkening horizon
I'm not afraid, let them come, I will never retreat
I will stand, and hold my ground
Protect the ancient tree

Then I .....start to fall?
With the world I used to know

Burning leaves, drop ash before my eyes?
Crush my dreams, all gone
Burning leaves, their branches reach to the sky?
The flame within me is gone

v2
With the light of the last darkening star
Somebodies crawling closer
All my vengence cursed from the start
The ruins are torn to pieces
Right before my dying breath, I lay my eyes to the sky
As an eagle spreads its wings for the last time
He will be the old, the bird to die?

Agree with all apart from the first line of the chorus.

Sounds like "Burning leaves, burnt (to) ash before my eyes" to me

These speculations are funny, you will know one month later from the cd booklet :p and then you can check back if you had right ;)

And the finnish part of the lyrics , right through from my brother Niko :) .

Here we go :

"Lieneekö enää päällä maan, laiduntakaan joka omistaa
lehdon tuon kauniin kaukaisen, jonne tie vie jokainen.
Tuonen vartija viimeinen, keskellä liekkien, ikuinen
Huojuu maailma ihmisten, niin loppuu aika sen."

They are:

Passing aeons
Everlasting fight against the evil
Their army grows on and on
With the darkening horizon

I'm not afraid, let them come
I will never retreat
I will stand and hold my ground
Protect the ancient tree

The defence is doomed to fall
With the world I used to know

Burning leaves
Turn to ash before my eyes
Crushed my dreams
Long gone
Burning leaves
Dead branches reach to the sky
The flame within me
Is gone

On the light of the last dying star
Serpents crawl closer
All five branches, cursed from the start
And roots are torn to pieces

Right before my dying breath
I lay my eyes to the sky
As an eagle spreads its wings for the last time
Leaving me, the oak, the grove, to die

Liekö enää päällä maan ainuttakaan joka muistaa
Lehdon tuon kauniin kaukaisen,
jonne vie tie jokainen
Kun kuolee vartija viimeinen, keskellä liekkien
ikuinen puu ja maailma ihmisten
Niin loppuu aikamme

:)

hi all,

does someone know the translation from suomi of this part of Burning Leaves and of the entire song Pohjola?

thank you in advance!

The translation of Burning Leaves is in the booklet. But I've got them all here as well:

http://thonoht.com/site4/lyrics.htm#604

I have currently put a Finnish guy to correcting and translating Pohjola for me. So hopefully in time, I will have the site updated with those lyrics corrected if needed, and a translation included as well.

And, it's ready. I now know what the song Pohjola is about.

Find the translated version in small text below the actual song.
It has not been checked by me, for I don't know Finnish, but I'm quite sure the guy I asked to translate it put quite a lot of effort into it to make it as accurate as possible.
