Im considering getting the Buzz Feiten tuning system on my guitar. Does anyone have this system? Is it worth it? How much of an improvement does it really make?
I've got it on a cheap washburn 7 string. I like it, the guitar is one of the best intonated I've ever played and hasn't caused me any issues with string guage or anything. It came on this guitar and I only use it in one tuning but I've heard from guys who've had it on their guitars that if you change tuning it really messes with the intonation.
I probably wouldn't get it installed on another guitar though, doesn't make enough of a difference from a well set up normal guitar to be worth it.
It came stock on my Washburn X50 Pro as well, and it easily has the best intonation of my 5 guitars. Although, as mentioned above, that might just be the result of a good setup from the get-go.
^Same as above. I have it on 2 of my x50s but IMO, I can't really tell a difference between them or my other guitars. Before I did anything like that, I would upgrade the bridges and/or tuning keys.
If you do get it, and change string gauges, then you'll have to have the nut fixed for the gauges to sit correctly.
Same as has been stated above - it came on a Washburn guitar I had several years ago, and while I did eventually sell it, the intonation on that particular guitar was always spot on.
as far as I know only the nut is different so they would replace that. then they would set the intonation with the standard bridge saddles for your chosen tuning and string gauge. obviously if you ever use a different gauge the bridge would need readjustment and you lose the Feiten settings. for that reason I would only consider this if I dedicated my guitar for a certain tuning/gauge.
also note many Wahburns have it as standard, so MSRP 140 USD is hardly justified when I could buy my Washburn X50 profe for 400...
