Well, along with some of the other boneheaded arguments that have been posted here by other people, who can be certain that someone actually posts satire or sarcasm. I mean, look at the initial moron I quoted...

Eh, I mean the economy is in such shape that you may as well've picked whatever major you wanted regardless. The job market is so shitty that nobody's getting a job these days, so may as well do what you want on your own terms since everyone's basically on an even keel right now.

Yes and no. I wasn't actually trying to derail this too much, so I'll say this... At the end of the day, there are industries that are easier to get in than others. The economy most definitely is hurting everything, which has in turn increased the level of difficulty to get into one said industry opposed to another. Of course I agree with doing what I want on my own terms, but like AMBR said, healthcare isn't doing nearly as bad compared to other industries.

Well look who came crawling back. J/k. Yeah, I don't like how difficult it is to get paying journalism gigs or whatever, but it just makes sense for news to go online. At the end of the day though, there simply is no way to go in reverse to save print. The problem in my opinion is that the industry itself didn't quite know the extent of how things would be affected by the internet. This is why print publications like BWBK have gone exclusively online or in a less harsh scenario like Revolver, have tried to cut their losses by publishing their issues less frequently.

I just don't post much here anymore because I can't stand having to censor myself from my true feelings about some of the things said here by certain people, heh. Personally I think that the publishers need to embrace the magazine apps on the iPad more, I'm posting this from mine and I got subscriptions to several mags on here that I quit getting in print. Problem is there aren't many choices. I'd pay 20/yr for bwbk on my iPad. Check out the zinio app.

That's not what I've heard from like everyone else, considering that I am thinking about getting into law. I've been told by many people I trust that the law field is going to hell right now because of the economic state of affairs. Healthcare will always boom. Everyone gets sick.

I encourage everyone to get into environmental science, centering on water quality, alternative energy, and resource conservation. We will need technological solutions in those three areas, and fast. My GF is an environmental scientist and she is telling me as water quality worldwide declines because of pollution, positions like hers will become incredibly lucrative.

Clean energy industries will also be snapping up good engineers at high salaries.

I am a technical writer and have carved out a niche in my industry; at one time I was a reporter back before the newspaper market collapsed. I am going to make a serious run at an engineering degree to carry me through to retirement. You have to adopt and survive.

There is not much difference anyways between the paper and web version, as both are filled with news and short snippets - only difference being the lack of graphics and pictures.

Was never a huge fan anyways, as the paper BWBK was about quantity not quality.

I do miss Metal Maniacs and the great Unrestrained! though. Adrian still giving the horns up above?

More liked grilled_brain. You're an idiot. As Jon said, he knows Tim well, and I know Mark Gromen pretty well and he point blank told me why they weren't going to do print anymore. It had nothing to do with selling out, on the contrary, it had plenty to do with not selling enough.

How do those mag apps look? I wish a lot of the paper mags could have converted to some type of .pdf form.

Not that they should even care. How else are these guys supposed to make a living delivering you news, reviews, interviews, etc that you think are quality enough that warrant you to be a regular visitor of that site? You think running a site like BWBK and Blabbermouth is easy?

Yep. If you are a writer, technical writing is definitely where to go. Tons of job ads all the time for that position. I've actually taken a class in it and if these problems continue, I probably will try to at least get an associates in it.

I actually did the Underground Zine Scene back in the day and fought tooth and nail against running ads...yeah maybe it was stupid but to me it was about the music, not how many 'zines I put out.

I think a lot of people didn't really get the gist of the original comment...perhaps I should have phrased it differently.

If you run a magazine/website/radio/internet radio where do you draw the line at advertising? whether it go against your moral, musical or any other principles you may hold.

I have nothing against BWBK or Tim or anyone that works there. They've had a great run with the mag, tried a festival which I attended both shows in Cleveland and are now supplying us metal heads with news.

Me personally when I did the zine it was very low budget and completely self financed. I chose what I wanted to advertise and had few limitations as long as it was metal related.

I just found it odd that their banner advertised a big concert in Michigan. Personally I probably wouldn't have done that but to each there own.

I just explained to you that they don't even have a say in the matter. They utilize a middle company (Fixion Media) that collects and sells adspace for them and gives them a %.
