Can you make interesting melodies with 5 semitones?
For example:

C C# D D# E F

You do realise that moving up a semitone each time promotes chromaticism, arrangement of notes will however affect how it sounds. Understand that, this might cause dissonant melodies more so than conventional consonant melodies which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Experiment around it, there's no right or wrong in music.
