Cab question..

so im going to build a custom cab maybe a 2x12 or a 4x12 mainly for practice/rehearsals.. the question here is not the speakers per se.. the real question here is: is there a way to create some sort of switch to change ohm impedance in the cab ? for example from 8 ohm to 16 ohm or to 4 ohm ? Thanks in advance !

Assuming you are using 16 ohm speakers on a 4x12, you can do a switch that switches from 16 ohms to 4 ohms. Personally, I'm not big on switches on a cab, though. If you are using the 16 ohm tap on the amp, and the switch gets bumped to 4 ohms, you'll likely fry the amp. IMO, it's better having separate inputs, one for 4 ohms the other for 16 so you have to physically changed the cable connection. It's probably easiest to just buy a Marshall jack plate and use it.

don't like those marshall plates, they're very easy to destroy, just get a metal plate and 2 jackplugs, be sure to use a closed type, or the wind from the speakers will push your jack out.

I would even use speakon connectors if your are building yourself anyway.
