Cain's Offering

Friggan SWEET! It is on EMUSIC as well. Now, I really can't wait till my account resets! I am listening to the previews and I really like what I am hearing.

Got this off of eMusic as well. Great stuff. Reminds me of old school Sonata and Stratovarius at the same time. :kickass::rock:

As for getting the original CD? Well, I've gotten Polaris off of eMusic. When I finally found an actual CD copy, I ended up buying it, as I do find that I prefer to get things on CD whenever possible. However, there is no denying the convenience of downloading it as MP3, especially when the CD can be hard to come by.

I haven't listened to the whole album yet, but I've been known to get the MP3s off of eMusic and buy the CD at one of the vendors at ProgPower. Who knows, this might be one of those dual purchases. :)

Hehehe ... when Jani were writing the songs and send me the demos I pointed this out to him. But, in I have total respect for this, he told me he didn't remember that song and it wasn't written with that in mind at all.

Well you wouldn't rip it off on purpose would you

You know, there's only so much you can do in writing music and sometimes a simple piano line comes up sounding like something you've heard before. For what it's worth, if that's the only thing people can complain about in regards to this album, we're very happy, because the entire disc kicks major ass.

hahaha thats still awesome, well at least they made that melody MUCH better! all hail Jani!!!

I bought it! And you're right it does kick major ass! In fact I think we talked about it while waiting in line to reserve rooms at the Artmore for next year. Yes that was me.

OK, you're the dude that was behind me. Nice to have met you.

I've been listening to so much new music right now that I need to give this disc a second listen soon. But that instrumental (IIRC track 4) is friggin awesome. :)

I bought this album at the show and i love everything about, but there is one thing that kind of bugs me about this. The guitar solos or lack of guitar solos, am i the only one that was expecting amazing solos in every song, but most of the songs don't have a solo at all and if so it's keyboard(nothing wrong with that) just i was really wanting this to be the total package and i know the guitar player is good so why doesn't he rip it up, now i know a lot of people with disagree and say solos will ruin the songs or say it has good enough solos or whatever, but not to me it lack guitar solos is all im saying, but really it's no big deal the album is still great and some songs do have them just not as many as it should, it kind of wierd really. Oh well i really love Kotipelto and he really makes the album for me anyway, so i have to say for me it's like a 9 out of 10, very amazing stuff song writing wise just, well u know what i want Jani to rip it up i love kickbutt solos, he just doesn't for some reason on this.

I picked this up last week....I was up in the air with getting it. I am glad I did. Great from start to finish. It wasnt anything groundbreaking or new....but it is nice to hear a solid release from start to finish.

I'm with D11 on this one. The songs are awesome, but the lack of solos really lowers the album rating for me, although it's still a solid 9/10 in my book!

I think this is one of the most overhyped releases that we've discussed on this forum. It's very generic in my opinion, to the extent of even I think so! :dopey:

"Overhyped"????
I haven't seen big advertisements on the forum for it - I haven't seen 3.000 different posts/threads on the forum for it ... What constitutes "overhyped" in your opinion?

Big Advertisements? I don't recall seeing that for any band. 3.000 posts? huh? What constitutes being overhyped to me? Well, various people letting on how great an album is, but it basically sounds like everything else that's being released at the moment. One example that comes to my mind is Jorn. Apparently, Jorn's music is generic and sounds the same, but Cain's Offering is somehow....great. (shrugs)

It's my opinion about the Cain's Offering album, nothing to take personal.

I still don't get it - there's what? 45 posts in total on this forum about the album, coming from perhaps 20 different people - not even 75% of those LOVE the album. And that to you is "overhyped"? Talk about distorting your definitions.

c.

Wow Claus...so be it, my opinion is distorted.

~Brian~

Not your opinion, just your definitions :)

Okay, I totally understand if it's not the album you were hoping it to be after reading the reviews/comments. That's fine. We all have different opinions.

I was just acting on the word "overhyped" as it really is an "overused" word on forums. To me (and I'm sure most people) the use of it implies that you're visually bombarded constantly by comments on how great the album is, seeing reviews and adverts for it everywhere you look and hearing people talk about it non-stop. I don't see / hear that anywhere. What I find here on this board is a few threads and perhaps 45 posts on the album in total. How that can be "overhype" doesn't make sense to me.
