hey fellas,
Would be glad to get some advices, or even some direction to acheive this kind of sound:

I have an ENGL powerball head which i think was used by the band (maybe the savage though). but this scooped, and SAW like tone sounds allmost unnatural.

any ideas? i tried eq, but it just doesnt seems to help.

Thanks

well here are some files..
got me quite frustrated.. just cant achieve that tone. on the first file i just played with differant mid setting on my amp, and the mic was a little bit of axis for more hollow sound... but it came off really pointy. flat.
the second file is with the mic (57) a little more toward the age, again, of axis. the sound is bigger, but its not cutting anymore.
any EQ tips? i tried many frequencies, but nothing seems to help

edit: there is a guitar playing alone in the beginning, record the same riff and pan it on the opposite side, put it on loop, reamp the signal on the fly and tweak the settings until you have 90% the same tone.

Ever since I discovered the Savage 120 back in 1998, at the recording of our second album "Legacy Of Kings", there has been no other for me. I have used my trusted companion on every recording and every tour since. And should he for some reason fail me on any given night, I have his twin pumped up, ready and eager to go. To me, ENGL epitomizes the heavy metal attitude both in sound and design, and no other amp I have ever tried has even been close.

I think Lasse can give you an opinion about Powerball vs Savage ;)

Actually never had the chance to test the SAVAGE. no local store has it, when i say local i mean its brought to the country only by demand, and extremly expensive.. but i really like the tone of the powerball.. but of the first version, the powerball 2 it really synthetic.

the blackmore sounded really nice, but its a pitty it has only 1 EQ channel isnt it :(?

but do you think that i cant get to 90% same tone with the powerball? its still an ENGL, and with some tweaks it should do the work i hope?
