My first post here, and I'm already begging for handouts.

Can anyone hook me up with a short (few measures) blast beat loop in 179 bpm - just a bass drum, snare, and ride? I need something for a tune I'm working on, and I can program about anything EXCEPT a halfway decent sounding blast beat. Mine sound hella fake and lame.

Thanks in advance.

Hook me up with a midi file from guitar pro with the beat, and I'll see what I can do.

I'll try and figure guitar pro out with the trial they got and send it your way. I've never worked in midi, but I'll at least give it a shot - I understand the principal, so that's a start. I'm more of a drum machine program type dude, but I think I have to get outta that mentality to acheive the realism with drums.

Then export a MIDI file from a drum program, if that's easier. He's just going to use the MIDI as a reference anyway, provided it's right I think we're set.

Welcome aboard! Did a few beats, with different snare/ride volumes, a few crashes in the beginning of the measures, a couple of fills.

Here´s a stereomix:

You shall make the loops by yourself if my beats are any good, I´m too tired and lazy :)

Thats awesome!! can you make one for me too? except i need it at 1189bpm... oh and try not to make it sound too robot-like... thanks...

I couldn't resist...

holy crap, that's the hook up of all hook ups. I'm gettin' excited just hearing it. yes, I can use these to make loops, mix and match, etc. I thougt it was interesting there's snare tops and bottoms. I'm so out of the loop (no pun intended) on the modern ways to program drums, midi, etc.

I went ahead and uploaded an older tune I tried to do blast beats in on my soundclick page for shits and giggles. It was an old 4-track tune, so it's like ancient history, but nonetheless:

the jcm emulator test for the tune (also on the soundclick page) has some fast beats that will hopefully be replaced by your blast beats.

179bpm? Why not 180? :D

179 and 3/4 even

The drums could´ve been routed differently like the hi-hat on its own track and snare top and bottom combined to one track but whattefook :)

HEY! Sorry there´s actually a mistake in the track names. OHL is the Overheads in stereotrack and OHR is the room track, sorry for that. I´m accustomed to have the OH´s on separate mono tracks :)

well, I snuck the blast beat into the new tune pretty OK. of course, it's the best sounding part about all the drums, so I hope it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb! :zombie:

It's in a test clip I did for a behringer GDI pedal on my soundclick (yeah, the sound quality is horrible and quiet - hopefully I can improve on all that during the actual recording of the guitars for the song). Don't laugh too hard at the solo.

To be honest dude, the blast beat does stick out way too much, it's quieter than the rest and also doesn't really suit the style of the rest of the song imo.

good points - and basically what I needed to hear. I think I was being blind/deaf just to convince myself it was fitting. I think it would take me way too long to try and get it just right in this little tune. Therefore, I shall make a quick Assuck-type song with the blast beat, and use the original drums I had programmed for this one.
