does anyone else hate that they discard the last (and best) couple minutes of the song ? i got mad at live on the edge of forever. then i got a bootleg of the osaka 98 gig and sure enough, only 3 minutes of candlelight fantasia. damn.

From what I understand it is a technical issue with executing that part live. I think the problem stems from the heavy use of delay in that part and it makes the part sensitive to being played at the incorrect speed. Since they like to play everything fast live, it would be subject to problems. Yes, I'm sure he could possibly use tap delay, but I think they feel it too difficult to pull of live.korruption said:

I don't think there should be any excuse. I personally think every song should be able to be played live, to the fullest.
yeah, a click with in-ear monitors would be ideal for a band like symphony x but i think it's a time consuming & expensive solution

But seriously, I agree that they should play this in full live. If the riff gives Romeo too much trouble (yeah, right) then have Pinnella play it or just trigger a patch. Besides, if John Petrucci can use delay and make it sound good live (e.g. Lifting Shadows Off A Dream), then Romeo should have NO trouble doing so, as well.
