I heard an MP3 from this album and it was a really good technical death metal song. This band features Daniel Mongrain (Martyr, ex-Gorguts) in it. I've always loved his work and this seems to be no exception although I haven't listen to the whole album yet. I was wondering if someone heard about this album/band and what were your thoughts on it. thx!

I have heard this cd, it is really good. It is alot better than some other technical death bands I have heard. They actually write memorable riffs and good songs. I think there is a guy from Monstrosity in this band too if I am not mistaken. The thing I love about this cd the most is the solos, they are excellent.

Killer stuff and I suggest checking out the songs Icon of Malice,Reigns of Humanity and Refusal. There Rythmn/Lead guitarist Jason is also in Crotchduster(does all guitars and some other stuff) which is killer band. They are a mix between Death Metal,Mr Bungle and anything you can think off.

There is 3 mp3's here

The vocals don't sound hardcore and cookie monster vocals would sound bad with the band.

Vocals don't bother me. Admittedly they are somewhat hardcore, especially when you're expecting some generic ultra-guttural vox, but I tend to just think of them as 'aggressive' vocals. They do, to some extent, portray more energy than guttural vocals, but I suppose they're arguably at a juxtaposition with the technical death of Capharnaum as opposed to being in harmony. I definately think a deeper vocalist would fit-in better, but as it stands they're a good band. The music has a fair bit of drive and it feels like it's going somewhere, as well as being technical and having good riffs.

Vocalist actually reminds me of Kyle Symons from Malevolent Creation, who pulls-off this vocal style far better. He'd fit right into Capharnuam.

I think the vocals work really well. They don't bother me at all, although a proper DM vocalist could probably work better, as long as its not uber-burpz0rz vox.
