I want to die.
Done this several times before in older cars with great success but I'm trying to put a Kenwood DPX308u in my '07 Pontiac Vibe and it's ruining my life.
I'll spare you all the details of my frustration but as it stands, I've spliced RCA cables from the pre-outs on the back of the head unit into the harness in place of the L/R front and rear +/- connections. I had to do this because the head unit has an internal amp which I can't switch off and my car has its own amp which I can't bypass. Ugh. Audio is great otherwise, balance and fade and crossover seem to be working properly.
BUT...
Ridiculous popping from all speakers including sub when I turn the volume you on or off and audible hiss that wasn't there with the factory unit.
The hiss was there when I went straight from the amp out, but not the popping.
I know there are a million reasons why this might be happening and all are probably related to grounding but I need to figure out some kind of troubleshooting method.
Any suggestions?
