Cave In

This is kind of progressive rock band right ?
I heard some samples of their last album "Jupiter"which seems to be really cool and atmospheric, dunno more about it anyway.

I like your avataaaaaaaaaaar !!! -even if this is not my favourite character of the manga ;) -

Me! Me! *jumps up and down enthusiastically* I only know "Jupiter", but that one's a small masterpiece. As far as I know they started out as a sort of twisted hardcore outfit, but "Jupiter" sounds like the lovechild of (early) Radiohead, Katatonia and a hardcore band. Great, but it needs a few spins.

If you like Cave In you could check out Isis, "Oceanic" is great. Harsh vocals, more drawn out arrangements, but somehow similar, IMHO.

Yes, the band originally started out as an modern Hardcore band in the vein of Botch and Converge, but developped into this spacy rockband. Especially their latest two cd's "jupiter" and the mini "tides of tommorrow" are great.

I think a lot of people on this board would love this band, because the music is in the vein of a lot off bands I see mentioned here once and a while. The cool thing is these guys have for once not started out as a doom/death metal band :D

Oh yeah, and they are insane live!

Saint Seiya, or "Chevaliers du Zodiac" has always been my favorite cartoon. Don't know much else manga stuff though...

I always said that Belgium has great hardcore bands... Metal is suffering though... Cave In are pretty decent...

Well, Big Riff is one of my personal favorites. Also like the Calypso very much.

Belgium has (had, the scene is almost dead now) some great HC bands yes.

Cave In is from the USA however, but again, there's no HC left in their sound.

cya all

I know there from the US. I was just makin' a comment on the Belgian scene cos it's really good. I don't think it's dead...

They Started out as Metalcore, and now its EMO...
when a hardcore band sell out,its called emo,not Alt.rock.

all the guys from my metalcore band are nuts about em,from what ive heard, its really good(metalcore and emo era...)

Check out jupiter.

And by the way -Hopesfall -,another (Screamo) band, that combines hardcore vocals with clean vocals and beautiful melodies...

you must check out the song:the end of an era

really ? what about deviate then ? ( ok the last album is shit )... And Lenght of Time is my favourite HxC band from belgium. some nice stuff from backfire , angel crew, arkangel ( wich is a kind of slow slayer rip off i admit ) ... there are more and more bands tending to play brutal HxC or HxC mixed with black metal too : mantra ( strange that a black metal band should be assimilated to the HXC scene lol) , negate ... more and more deathcore bands too.

right ! State of Grace is a reference for me in terms of metal/HxC.but the last album sucks :(
have you ever checked our kirby's other band 'Lenght of Time' ? some kind of hardcore metal with a very morose atmosphere and some nice clean vocal parts even some sabbathian riffs.it's my fave belgian band :)
he plays in Arkangel too but it's slayer rip-off in in slow version moreover ! lol , i can listen to 2 or 3 songs then i stop the cd cause it's really ALWAYS the same tune :(

OMG i forgot the mighty Do Or Die ' Mons Tough Guy Power Reprezent ' lol
i must confess ... i like their music ... but it's really metal, not hardcore whatever they say

Backfire is a Dutch band, and Arkangel only has two Belgian members. Arkangel are very overestimated and jerks too. But the scene what I meant was the more underground HC scene, with bands like Kindred, Liar, Congress, Facedown, Regression, Nations On Fire, Sektor, Solid, Ashlar, Blindfold, Clouded, Family of Dog, Spineless and many more... The florishing scene of the mid ninetees, that was the leading scene of Europe, but that now has faded away...

On the other hand old school HC is on the rise here with Dead Stop, The deal, Last Straw, DxR... Yep, it is growing again...
