I know there are some philes in here when it comes to storage. I just moved into a new place and am taking the opportunity to get some new CD storage units.

I have been looking at these: http://www.racksandstands.com/Leslie-Dame-Enterprises-CD-1500-B-LE1068.html#ProdDetails

They seem good for the price and based on the few reviews and description seems like a nice sturdy unit.

Can anyone else recommend storage / places to buy? I don't want crazy expensive, I want value for the money and a sturdy, nice looking unit.

Thanks!

I have one almost identical to this that I bought years ago at a Harmony House in Michigan. When I ran out of space again, I have resorted to building my own from scratch. This allows me to actually increase the total storage voume even further.

I have the one from this site that has a capacity of 1000 and it is great. It was easy to assemble and looks pretty nice. I also ordered (but forgot from where) some dividers that allowed me to sort my CDs alphabetically so I don't have to spend ages trying to sort through 700 CDs.

Yeah I usually put all mine in alphabetical from the start, and by genre (I like all music!). After more searching I can't seem to find much that touches these for an all around package.

I've got one just like that which was posted (one that holds 1000) .. it's plenty sturdy, and will get the job done well. I'm going to buy another one at some point in time soon.

About the shelves ... I've had no troubles, but the way mine is contructed each shelf is pretty short, and sits on four metal push pins. The shelf itself isn't long enough for bowing to take place.

I never found stury racks made of veneer covered particle board, so I made my own from solid wood.

With it being made of such cheaply produced materials, why is it still close to 300 bucks? I wish it were a bit less expensive, as I'm looking for something similar myself.

I use Boltz racks for most of my CDs. I picked those because they are relatively lightweight and are expandable. It is more pricey than the option above, tho.

Wow, I like the look of those 1500-CD units, too. And, free shipping! :headbang:

Right now all of my CDs (except for my CD booklets and promo-boxes for WREKage) are in about twenty 90-CD-capacity trays, so one of these would go pretty far in getting the CDs off the floor and more vertical.

That is indeed a very nice CD rack... unfortunately, not all of us are professional carpenters! :D

Thanks. Though I'm not a "professional carpenter" I like woodwork. I holds 1000 standard jewel cases, is much sturdier, and cheaper than veneer covered particle board.
