What is your favorite format and why? Mine is CD. LP's and (genuine) tapes have a better sound quality, I know, but I personally prefer CD's for a matter of practicality, and I love booklets with lyrics and pics, which aren't on every LP.

Actually cds have the best sound quality. Audio cassettes have a terrible hiss over the audio (even on original copies) plus they stretch and chew up and LPs have the crackle & pop issue as well as a humming noise which a lot of people mistake for "analogue warmth" which is actually the sound of the electric motor driving the turntable.

yeah cd bar none in terms of quality...i love LP's and i have a small yet growing collection but mine are all old jazz/classical ones so there is a degradation in sound primarily because of it's age and also the fact that jazz and classical have a lot of shit going on so you lose some of that, especially on the bottom end. i dunno, i'm an antiquarian of sorts and i like to chill and listen to my lp's and the ol' crackle n pop just adds to it. i never really listened to cassettes too much so i can't say much about it

I've never listened to an LP, but I'll take CDs over tapes any day for the reasons Satanstoenail mentioned.

CDs for a combination of convenience and adequate sound. LPs sound better when brand new, but cds do not lose quality anywhere near as quick as vinyl.

LP. Sound quality is unbeatable. For convenience, I prefer mp3's, but if I want to sit and really listen to music, I've got to have vinyl.

I prefer CDs. Started with tapes back in the 80's, but never liked them tbh. I'd like to own some LPs, perhaps in the future I get a player and a few special albums.

Depends on the style of music, really. With a lot of extreme metal, the process of playing a record with some of the medium's imperfections has a lot of appeal, but it just pisses me off whenever I'm trying to listen to classical or ambient.

I love my vinyl and have some that i've never played before,I dunno why,it's either i'm scared of scratching them or just can't be fucked playing them.The only drawback of vinyl imo is having to turn them over at the halfway point.
