Astral Doors' latest album "Astralism" has already been remastered since the band hated the original product:

"We are very happy to announce that ASTRALISM will be re-released as a Digipack with a new written bonus track called "21st Century Medieval". The sound on the album has been polished and has been re-mastered by a professional, this is how it was meant to sound from the beginning. We are very grateful towards our label that agreed on the re-release and made it happen. We feel very privileged."

Don't you wish more bands would be able to do this?

Name some albums that you would probably like a whole lot more if the mix/mastering was better, in your humble opinion. Please include what it is that bugs the heck out of you. I'll start...

Metallica's "...And Justice For All" - where the hell is the bass?
Rush' "Vapor Trails" - mastered so hot that it hurts to listen, especially with headphones

2 great remasters I have picked are: Megadeth - So Far So Good So What & Cynic - Focus. What a difference! Anyway I'd love to see Rush - Farewell To Kings redone & Crimson Glory - Trancedence :headbang:

Edited to be more inline with Kingsgene's request::loco:

Heavenly's first CD - More guitar and "cleaner" drums. Album sounds muddy to me.
Iron Fire's first CD - Guitars should be thicker and have more punch. They are a bit too tinny. Also, I'd turn down some of the high EQs.

and for GOD's SAKE...Jag Panzer's Decade of the Nail Spiked Bat!!! I know they were going for a classic sound, but WHY??? It's not 1984! Don't record it like it's 1984. That doesn't make sense to me. I want clean, powerful production!

I'm sure there are others, but I wouldn't mind seeing Biomechanical's Eight Moons get remastered (that's not to say it's bad as it is). The production in general is pretty stodgy and the music simply doesn't sound quite as cohesive (in terms of the mix) as it did on The Empires of the World.

Fates Warning - No Exit

The Genesis & Rush albums have been remastered. I'm pretty sure Genesis all the way up to at least Abacab have been & Rush up to at least Test For Echo, IIRC.

Cool....let us know what you think is wrong with the original recordings, besides "it sucks". Something like "the drums need to be rerecorded", or "can't hear the guitar", or "sounds like the tape heads needed to be cleaned first"....thanks!

Metal Church - Blessing In Disguise...great album, but the production is just horrible. The whole thing just sounds like mud to me these days.
