Celestion G12-T75, Bogner vs. Marshall

Bear in mind that I didn't adjust the amp to sound good with the speaker!
With more presence everyone would have preferred the Bogner, with less presence everyone would have picked the Marshall, so this isn't really a "which one sounds better" thread, but just a comparison.
The good thing about the bogners smoother top end is, that when you raise the treble or presence, you'll shelve it up, it'll be brighter but still somewhat smooth, without all these extreme fizz spikes the Marshall has.
I know this recording doesn't show the Bogner in the best light, but I chose to use settings that everyone on this board is using.
A second thing: due to the hIgher presence in the Marshall that clip seems to be louder (fletcher Munson), don't fall into the "louder=better"-trap

Totally agree with Ermz's assesment. There's a resonance in the Marshall that I don't like but that would be easy enough to cut out. Both cabs sound good to be honest.

I too prefer the Marshall over the Bogner. If i was to do this test to see which cab i would use in this situation, i would've ended up using the Marshall as I had similar reaction to TheDude when listening to the clip. While it was playing, I first thought the Bogner's smooth tone was cool and imagined myself using it in the mix. I started to think about what EQ settings i would use to get more clarity and note definition, then the Marshall kicked in and within 10 seconds i had changed my mind about using the Bogner, the tone was closer to what i would use right from the start.

Th Marshall is raping the Bogner in this clip IMO. There is so much JUNK coming out of that Bogner cab that the fundamental tone sounds obscured. When I'm listening to the Bogner, it's like having my ear next to a wall with a cabinet blasting toward me and the high end reflections off of the wall are mixing with the direct signal causing a nasty fizz-honk cocktail. Definitely not user error here, as Lasse knows what the hell he's doing.

Did I mention I like the Marshall

Someone on this here forum should put some T75s in a Mesa OS.

Then we'd know pretty much what they sound like.

I've thought a couple of times about doing an x pattern in my Mesa OS to be honest as I've got a couple of T75's from my Marshall 2x12. Might give it a go eventually.

I thought you couldn't do that due to the Ohmage mismatch because of how the V30's are made for the MESA??? Or am I blowing shit up myself here?

They're either 8 or 16 ohm in the Mesa cab. If they were a weird ohmage, the cab would be a weird ohmage too.
