Centuries Apart - Malachi?

wasnt sure where to post this, as its not a production tip, or Fun stuff, pictures of your dogs or girlfriends.

Anybody heard of this band? there a local band from where im from they seem to be pretty well known i do believe the dude who recorded them is on this forum jordan valeriote - sundown studios i think?

theres 2 things that bother me about this EP.. (Not to bash jordan or anything some of his other stuff is sooo good)

1. The guitar sound just seems so incredibly hollow and half the time theres a noise gate on thats just WAY to tight. especially in the title track a few riffs in (If anybody cares enough to listen)

2. Another is the vocalists "Lows" just seems mumbled and murmured. and some of his other vocals are jut not clear at all.

Edit: 2.5. it bothers me that people are like HOLY SHIT HOWD YOU GET THAT TONE.

Whats everybody elses take on this band? again not to bash anybody i just wanted to see what everybody ELSES thoughts are.

this reply is like 8 months late, haven't been here in a while but...
that's cool. I've got comments going both ways on this EP. Personally I'm proud of this one... probably the most microscopically tight recording I've done. There's no gate, just lots of editing and ridiculous care tracking. the guitar was a 5150 with the gain at like 1.5. Looking back I would have a little more gain... at the same time that's what opened up the mix and gave it a bit of a unique sound. to each his own!
