I agree with you about Agalloch, and want to thank you for the recommendation. Although at first, I didn't enjoy or "get it" after numerous listenings, it continues to get better.

It is to me, now, better than in absentia, but not because either band is better, but moreso because Agalloch's music is heavier, and their style is more fitting to me, personally. I consider PT's in absentia an excellent cd, as so do you, but again...Agalloch's ~ The Mantle fucking rocks.

At first it seemed too slow, not sung well, simple, not much going on, somewhat boring...now take all those descriptions away and add the opposites.

I love this cd. Thanks again.

It is still getting better with each listen...you motherfucker you, changso...you could of never known that these guys are "right up my alley" with regards to their music writing...fate, indeed.

When I first played this cd, and didn't really care for it, my wife said, "that sucks." I should of known right then that this was going to be a treasured cd, because my wife and I never agree on music.

Listening to it again, drinking some Crown and Sam Adams...

That's awesome, I'm very glad that you like that album as much as I do...we feel the same about the Mantle. This cd is definatly more appropriate to my taste than the excellent In Absentia. At the first glence, the record seems overly simplist, but the more you listen to it, the more you discover its subtilities...

you mean some people don't like The Mantle? Wow, I find that it frequents my CD player more often than any other CD right now. In fact, it generally maintains one of the three spots in my player. I still can't really explain what I love so much about it, but I love it nonetheless.

The Mantle didn't really catch me the first few listens through, sounded too repetitive. The few PT songs I've heard though have been excellent right off the bat...Maybe I should take a few more listens to Agalloch since all my fave albums seem to take a while to get into...
