I guess I was wrong... take a look here in this Painting

In the Odyssey in fact sirens were described by homer... as big creatures half women and half Birds ;) ... SORRY .. my bad

Cheese metal uh?I dont think so.The cover is just amazing,it fits in the style of the previous covers(reminds the damnation game and twilight in olympus a bit) and the picture as "art" is wonderful.I wanna see it in a cd store in the middle of various cd's,it will have a big contrast(rembember "Rebirth" cover from angra :P?).Just wonderful,I dont have too much words.Oh,and I honestrly prefer flying sirens like sucubbus than like crows with human heads :P.

fgeez, relax we haven't even heard the record yet.
I for one dont give a siren's ass. I hope they sell more records with the cover.I don't blame them,I have yet to see a past syx cd on a store shelf in the ny and tri state area. I just hope they sell records to the walking dead out there, and if that means having ass on the cover then so be it.

Wow....so this is the new Symphony X cover....I don't know if it's good or bad, heh, but it sure is totally different to what I was expecting.
I suppose at the end of the day I don't like it as much as previous cover's but it certainly looks like the kind of picture I'd be looking at straight away in a music store....So- I think this new album will sell better with this cover hopefully and earn the band many new fans!

Hum..and just to know, the creatures in NegRock painting are HARPYS,half woman half bird,we are talking about SIRENS.
Enciclopedia info:
Siren
A female demon in Greek mythology with beautiful voices. Stationed on their own islands, their gorgeous songs lure male sailors to them, where they feast on them. When Odysseus passed by, he tied himself to his boat's mast to prevent him from swimming off, while his crewmen plugged their ears with wax.

Sorry but... your Enciclopedia description doesn't tell anything different than what i said... i really don't see another PHISICAL description of Homer's Sirens in what you wrote
In fact the picture i posted was a painting inspired by the Odyssey, and i read in various sites that, at Homer's time, sirens were believed to be creatures half Woman half bird, and their shape changed only moooore later in mithology
So at the end is up to the artist to paint them with more "birdy" parts or not, but this is how They were

noooo :P
Sirens dont look like birds,HARPYS look!
I dont know how sirens looks like,in Final Fantasy their are just cute women singing. But in the description is wrote "a female demon",and that explains the bat wings and succubi looking :)
But Harpys are always birdish and ugly :P

I personally love the new cover, I even set it as my desktop wallpaper. I think the sirens are a wonderful addition, they add a little more color and life to the picture. I don't see why so many people seem to dislike them. Besides, Odysseus would look kinda stupid all tied up with this look of pain and ressistance on his face if there was nothing around him other than his sailors who seem to be reacting in a similar maner.

Even if it is accurate to the story, something about having T&A on a Symphony X cover doesn't sound right...and it is dangerously close to a cheese metal cover, only thing missing is a musclebound guy with a sword...

I agree, Demonspell. Too cheesy. My first thought upon seeing this cover was: "Rhapsody!"
