Am I the only one who would have a plate of well made kebab over pizza or Chinese? Shit, if I had to choose one dish to last me the rest of my life, it would be kebab!

Kebab...yesss....great stuff! But for me...shawerma (preferably chicken, but lamb will do also) FTW! That garlic sauce, and chili paste...mmmmm. Even better when it's Israeli style, with potatoes. Damn, I'm hungry now.

Kofte... mmm...yes. Yummy stuff. Shawerma is basically an Arabic taco. Seasoned meat roasted on those vertical spits... shaved off as it's rotating. Put in pita bread with onions, tomatoes, pickles, and sometimes potatoes (depends on nationality of the one making it), with a garlic sauce. Street food. Pretty much the same as Greek gyros...with slight difference in the seasonings of the meat...and the sauce. Gyros use the tzatziki (cucumber sauce). Shawerma uses the garlic sauce.

I use this recipe for home made chicken shawerma, and it comes out almost as good as the restaurant:

For the garlic sauce, I just mix some diced and smashed garlic to either yogurt or mayo, with a little salt and lemon juice.
