Chinese Democracy?

I just listened to the first 5 songs, skipped through all of them and then deleted the whole album to not waste my HD space.

This record is complete crap to me, songwriting wise. Can't judge the production cause I only checked it on my laptop ...

Kazrog/Machinated: it's interesting how different people judge the same record. To me it's totally not catchy and completely pointless songwriting. Nothing sticks, nothing excites me. I'll gladly go back to my Katatonia CD that came in the mail today ...
 
pardon my ignorance, but is this actually GnR or it is Axl and and bunch of people that weren't in GnR originally?

I have only heard a bit of that song on blabbermouth and thought it sounded pretty cool - certainly haven't formed a proper opinion yet!
 
I don't think it's worth debating whether the current lineup is "Guns" or not. I guess I don't really care because I was never a big fan of Slash and Duff anyway? I'd rather hear Ron Thal or Buckethead play insane, shredding solos on a record than hear Slash play a bunch of slow-mo pseudo blues. I was never really a fan of Guns to begin with, by the time I got into metal it was because of bands like Megadeth, Testament, Carcass, Death, Sepultura, Fear Factory, etc.

That being said I really like Axl's voice, and it's cool to hear it over a band of top-level musicians, who aren't just studio guys but have some individuality and personality to lend. Sure, it's absurd how long this has taken, but I think it will pay off because the album is already legendary in a way before it's even come out - simply because of how long it's taken.
 
The problem is that this music has been done to death a thousand times over. The only reason it worked before is the chemistry of the band and the time in which it was released. Listening to this, aside from Axls voice which frankly sounds kind of generic here, all I here is the same old shit that every rock band since 1990 has been regurgitating.

I wasn't expecting it to be any good either, but I just got so chrushed by that opening riff. What the hell, that's the best they could do?
 
damn, we got metallica, ac/dc, and guns n' roses all releasing albums within months of each other. sounds like record company executives are desperate to try and boost album sales, so they gather some (pretty much) washed up bands that you still see kids wearing t-shirts of and have them release their albums back to back. and what a perfect time to try it as the u.s. fall into a major recession! yay!!!!!

i've only heard the title track and found it very average as far as songwriting. there are some cool shred licks though.
