Chinese Democracy?

who mixed this andy wallace?

i haven't heard one note yet but just wondering. i'll check it out when it comes out especially if it at least has good production. i probably will not like it because, well, it is not guns n roses no matter what. they should at least change the name. once slash left the band lost its magic and while axl contributed a lot the band is not the same without slash. i equate it to if the beatles kept going without john or paul or the stones without keith richards or even van halen without, well van halen.

on edit: i heard the song on the link above and well, nothing special. i think no matter what this album has more hype than substance. after like 100 years of waiting there's no way it could have been good. no album could ever live up to so much hype and commotion. MAYBE a few knockout landmark records like dark side of the moon or thriller or something along those lines. this is average at best. the one question i have is what could have possibly taken so long?? they are just like watered down rock songs from what i hear, it's not like it's something new that no one has done where it's like gee it took 10 years to make but at least it's special. two thumbs way down. even if the songs are catchy two thumbs down. i also think this album will fail. maybe like 1x platinum at best. definitely not enough revenue to cover the expenses. most people will probably hear a few songs and just share the sentiments as i expressed. not worth my money. oh and after like 3 listens to the title track on the blabbermouth player it sounds like B side track from illusion II with a different guitarist. it has that "you could be mine" jive to it. too bad this song might have some semblance or originality 15 years ago.

I used to be a GN'R maniac when I was younger. For years I'd been following every step and hint in the making of that record... which was obviously pretty delusional.

But I've stopped caring for about 3 years now and haven't been following the latest leaks. I thought: If this'll ever come out, ok that's cool, if not... well so fuck it.

I've heard enough to know where this is going... and I'm actually kinda surprised, that they choose "Chinese Democracy" as the first single. I like the track, it's a solid rocker not showcasing the far-electronic side of some of the new tunes.

But if they'd chosen a track like - the track formerly known as -"The Blues"... this would have just been an epic win, because it's pretty much resembling immortal UYI hymns like 14 Years, Yesterdays etc... And if a track like "Madagascar" doesn't even make the cut... well, I'm skeptical they're having better things to offer.

Hm... since I saw them in the last Rock in Rio, I just lost my interest in them. This record will never be considered ENOUGH good for the time & money spent in it's production. If it AT LEAST does not SOUND good, AXL can stick a shovel in his ass... if someone don't do it first !!!!

I really liked GnR back in the day. when they had the raw, trashy sound. once they got rich the music got too polished for me.

Doesnt sound like a wallace mix, but if it is then great job to him. What i heard was definitely a decent mix. I like most of what i heard of the leak and the new song sounds aight too.

welllll so i heard this on myspace today and it's really not as bad as i thought. the title track kinda is boring but there are some good songs. the mix is very simple kind of i like it. sometimes the drums sound just like slate samples lol...

i mean if they were not called GNR it would be a very good album. still totally not as good as even a fraction of the hype but like i said before i don't think any piece of art could deliver all the hype that has surrounded this album. some of the guitar solos are really cool also, you know for a fact slash through all the bitterness is like "hmm how did he do that?" and tries to cop a lick or two lol

I don't think Slash is that bitter anymore. He pretty much hit rock bottom when he finally left in 97, but recently he seemed to be very supportive and positive in interviews.

I was excited when I heard that most of the band wasn't around anymore, but then I heard 'Axl' was still involved.

I keep thinking it would be great if it weren't for the musicians, the songs, the name(s), the fact that the 80s need to be kept at as far a distance as possible, the songs, the 80s being a horrible embarrassment to humanity, the repetetetivity, the musicians, and the songs, though, so I might check it out.

It's streaming on their MySpace. I'm about halfway into the album and I have to say it's excellent so far, the solos are amazing as I expected, and the songwriting is great too!

Check it out!

EDIT: I've listened to the whole thing now, and I can honestly say that I support this 100%. This album is going to raise the bar and influence a lot of bands in many styles of music. I think Axl had to train himself to become skilled and wise enough to create this record, and it's part of why it took so long. This is an amazing, deep album, really a much better and more sophisticated album than anything else that's had the name "Guns N Roses" on it. But that's just my opinion... as a self admitted prog and shred nerd.

Man, this is worse than I had expected. Extremely lame and boring songs with equally lame electronic influences and arrangements. Axl sounds like shit and the unnecessary guitar noodling sounds nowhere near as catchy as Slash's work (although definitely a lot more complex, but shred belongs in the 80s). What's up with the rythm guitar sound btw, pretty disappointing considering how long they spent on this album. I really liked GnR in the 90s but I wish I'd never listened to this.

Doesn't do much for me, but then again, neither did GnR back in the day except for a song or two (and the other one was a cover...), plus the third solo of November Rain (this one, though not this particular... performance

Someone clearly didnt hear Winger, Racer X, Dokken, Whitecross or Shotgun Messiah(To name a few.). ;)
But hey, its the new metaltrend to bash on the 80's because they had big hair and spandex, and completely ignore the bands that actually did good music(I agree that GnR never was one of them.).

... plus the third solo of November Rain (this one: )

Jesus christ monkeyballs!
Talk about not bending far enough!

.... SERIOUSLY! I cant let it go!
It was so suckety sucky suck that even Freddie Mercury would be jealous of his sucking skills!
