The name means "to usurp the throne of hell".
Whilst bickering back and forth about the directionthe band should take (as the whole "I'm a spooky devil worshipper" thing is over-played), I jokingly said, "Well, why follow satan when I can kill him and take over?"
Had a few laughs over it...
Anyway, the idea stayed with me, so I found something in Latin that roughly translated into that (Chthonian Appanage). No one could think of anything better, so we kept it.
The lyrical theme of our "Siege Upon The Throne" demo follows the taking over hell idea but extends it to also becoming God;
with the demo that we're in the midst of creating ("A Mourning Of Actualization") I've broken away from the god/satan, good/evil, stuff pretty much....god is mentioned heavily throughout the songs, but the concept for the album is much more nihilistic (it is a story that starts with the main character about to die, and his awaiting heaven. he "dies", is rejected by god, descends to hell, and realizes that it isn't real and he's about to pass from existence...that his damnation was not enjoying life but serving a "god" in hopes of eternal salvation)
meh...anyway, I got a little off topic from the original question...oh well.
Oh, by the way, thanks for your support/taking the time to write.
