Cicada Invasion, 2004

i think they are going to come out today with all the rain. Did you go to jammin on main? It was pretty lame, I got in for free and we still left early. I know louisville is supposed to have them, and all around parts of kentucky.

eh, Jammin on Main isn't my type of thing

I was around for the last time they were here, but I was only 5 so I don't remember any of 'em really.

My brother said he and his friends used to take wiffle ball bats and play "cicada homerun derby".

Edgecrusher: I was 8 years old, and i remember not liking them, and yes I frequently used them for batting practice. Oh did you ever listen to 97X? Man today it is total shit, they were playing nickleback, and godsmack because they were sold to a national company. I used to tune in, as they played quite eclectic music. Im still holding on to a dream that i could somehow host a hour metal show once a week, haha, as the radio in our city is beyond pathetic.

I'm actually kinda anxious to see 'em. See what all the hype is about.

I am so sick of all the radio stations here. Most of the new bands suck, and the classics I've heard way too many times.

Any time I travel, I take a few CD's with me.

Nada, zip, zero, zilch.

I read in the Enquirer a couple weeks ago about a website that's holding a contest for who can come up with the best "Cicada Pick-Up Line". Like what a male cicada would say to a female.

I'm out here in Maryland, and those little mothers are EVERYWHERE. You can't drive down the road without at least ten or so bouncing of your vehicle. the look like giant fly's with red eyes.

Do they really make a weird screaming noise when you try and grab them? My buddy back in Louisville (which is where I'm originally from) claims this is the case. I am skeptical.

Yes they do Wandrail. In fact I picked one up yesterday, and in a 6 year old moment, harassed a chick i knew with it. Needless to say she is even more attracted to me after this little incident. But the little bugger screamd the whole time.

I really have gotten so used to them, I dont pay them much notice anymore.

That's fantastic! He was harassing people with them as well. As would I. Now I'm upset, I want one of these cicadas, I feel like I'm missing out down here.

Eek. I've seen them on television. Apparently some areas are covered thick with them. Seen one up close before during my travels but didn't touch it.

Cicada invasion 04. Sounds like a tour.

There are T-shirts galore with that printed on 'em, that's where I got the idea.
Eeeark, now there's another fashion faux pas, after 2004 is over.

*note to self: cicadas scream when you pick them up* I'm going to try touching one if I ever see one again...
