City beneath the surface
I ran across this last night and thought I'd share. I watched the entire performance and was very impressed with how well Zak's boys pulled it off, musicianship wise and vocally! I'm very much looking forward to next year's set at ProgPower!

I saw it too.
Musically it was good, but vocally (backups, not the lead) was a trainwreck.

This album is ALL about harmonics. VERY hard to pull off live.

This. And that's not a knock against CIIC. A full-on Savatage reunion would have a hard time pulling that off. I'm hopeful though, and I'm definitely going to be there to find out.

They had a hard time with a couple of parts on the album when they played everything except the Jon songs on the WOM tour, but it was still great.

The title track and The Hourglass in particular. Very hard to replicate that live. Just like Chance and several other songs in their catalog.

Absolutely!!!!
I did not mean ANY disresepct to the CIIC guys in any way.
Sorry, but I am VERY honest about anything Savatage related.
I have spent MANY MANY MANY hours studying and learning their material.

The only tracks we ever pulled off live was the first half of the title track to WOM, and The Storm. It's a tough album!!!!

Jason, I couldn't disagree more with you. The background vocals were handled very well in my opinion. Zak sounds better than ever and the CIIC guys pulled off the counter vocals shockingly well to these ears.

No way, the WOM lineup are in full swing musically and could pull it off with ease. If they did a reunion and O'Neill would pump the money and technology into it as much as he does TSO...it would be scary good! Honestly, I think they should do a tour of this entire album or Dead Winter Dead as a replacement of the TSO spring tour.

I'm excited that they're at least trying it and not piping it in.

This! \nn/

Me too...and CIIC pulled it off well!
