CISPA Bill Passed in the USA

The Obama administration said they'd veto it. If not, I'm using tor on the internet 100% of the time I'm online.

Still has to pass Senate and be signed into law (which Obama has said he wouldn't do). Does nobody understand the legislative process anymore?

Nope, all I know is that government is bad and they're only out to penetrate you.

I was going to post how Ron Paul was early on denouncing that, but his YouTube account seems to have been nuked (on 'copyright' grounds). My YT account is also asking me to remove his videos.
I was mostly kidding, but what he denounces makes no difference SINCE HE DIDN'T SHOW UP FOR THE FUCKING VOTE. Let me make it clear that it is standard fare for politicians to shirk their duties when on the campaign trail. Still, the fact that you would try to argue with my statement of fact with YT videos is pretty hilarious.

I give up. I guess it is hilarious.

(How convenient to omit that CISPA passed in a surprise vote, though).

(No less convenient than failing to notice that 416 other people managed to make it into work that day including 168 who showed up to vote "Nay" or that they're all being payed $175,000+/year to be there.)

That's fine Jeff. I'm going to stop talking about these subjects anyway as I believe I've made my point sufficiently, and going over it again and again just creates animosity I guess, which is unproductive and not my intention (quite the contrary), really.

But I'd also like to ask you yet again to not call me names, even through we don't see eye to eye on matters of politics, I haven't been disrespectful to you mate.

Cheers man

But we can still download stuff for free right?

There is a law similar to this trying to be passed through in the UK. It will allow the government to track internet usage, emails, phone calls and texts to 'protect against terrorism'. No one cares like they did with SOPA if it means they can still use pirate bay.

It's only months till the next election, logic says that Obama will shut it down to gain the younger vote like he did with his internet campaining in '08.

Perhaps the democrats helped pass this bill just so that Obama could veto it in a few months, right before the election. Vetoing this has to be worth a million votes, which would win the election.

Also, we are all hopelessly addicted to the Internet, and this law is another of many attempts to exploit that addiction. This is the Wild West of the Information Age. People like you and I are really fucked because we have no idea what we are doing. Our grandkids will be reading all these posts thinking "holy shit my granddad was fucking retard, how the fuck was he able to procreate?"

I like the whole "Wild West of the Info Age" analogy you got there.
We live in some interesting times don't we.

Everybody should email their senators about this so it doesn't come down to depending on a veto. Since liberals generally oppose this bill, and conservatives supposedly believe in small government (they don't of course) we should hold the people who's salaries we pay accountable (even though it's apparently "sad" to do so) because the interests behind their PAC's certainly will.

Here are some preexisting petitions:

Emails your law makers based on your zipcode.(DemandProgress)

A petition open to everyone regardless of your country of residence.(AVAAZ)

A WhiteHouse.gov petition to tell Pres. Obama to veto it.
