COB Interviews

I think that was jokes. COB can never sound so shit. They can make better music than Cannibal Corpse any day totally wasted.

That's for sure. I don't know but if they have to become aven darker i just hope they'll get that style the right way...I mean, just think about the darkness and aggression in Hatebreeder

Janne said "they're fairly excited, and it could even be a good record" and they have a good drive to go back to studio to finish it. Alexi has done all of the material.

Aaand... Janne says it's gonna have some faster tempo songs.

He refused to reveal song titles.

Faster tempo sounds good, hopefully some fast melodies too and not just fast pedal leg.

No problem ;) Yeah I wouldn't mind to have faster tempo in the fashion that the Hatebreeder album starts with Warheart and Silent Night. But as said, even thrash can be faster than that.. it just depends how speed is determined.

I actually had in mind to start a thread about which is actually the fastest COB album on average, and how do you determine it. And I guess a song with slower tempo can feel faster than one with faster tempo and slow melodies. It's bugging me.

Tempo is mesured in bpm (beats per minute). But even with a tempo of 60 (which is one quarter note each second), the song can sound pretty damn fast if the musicians are playing 32th notes all the time. Same thing happens if you have a fast tempo like 180 (which is 3 quarter notes each second), if they play long notes like whole-notes, it's not gonna sound fast even if the tempo is.

^Yeah that's what I mean. Of course you could have a tempo of 1 beat per 2 second (30bpm) a composion can sound very fast if there's a guitar solo being played. For me much of the new Bodom feels slow even if there's a very fast tempo, when there's a thrashy lead going on.. For a fast sounding experience you need something like Silent Night that's got fast lead melody and fast tempo.. or the intro to Warheart that's pure porn.

Maybe the ultimate speed of a song is determined in how many notes there are per second all instruments counted together and divided by five? It could be possible to check this with GP, count everything and divide it by the amount of seconds the song lasts and /5 as there are 5 instruments. If someone is very bored.

^ yeah I get what you mean by ''the new Bodom feels slow''. As you said, everything in SNBN is fast and really clean, as opposed to songs on BD. Yeah speed is really a concept that is hard to fully understand. haha and yeah if I'm bored enough I'll do the maths on GP

But is teh fast and kool! It's gonna rawk!!! :kickass::kickass::kickass:

Young kid parody aside, if Janne's saying that then it must mean that they're actually proud of it, because if they weren't sure they wouldn't voluntarily "undermine" it with such statements, so I'm happy with what I'm hearing so far.

Interview with Janne ('Janny' :erk: - fucking Brits, how hard is it to find out how to pronounce someone's name properly :bah:) at BOA

^Oops I forgot to watch the interview. The guys are good at circling questions about how the new material will be. But yeah good interview "chemistry" probably because the guy can talk English and isn't as stupid as usually they are. Finland is fucking metal, you fucking need to go and drink salmiakki booze. Let the myth live on. I think most of Finns still hate metal music. I don't know percentages to compare tho. I guess it's exciting people think this is some Mecka of metal.
