Coheed and Cambria - Second Stage Turbine Blade Tour

That means I suck for living so close by and not knowing about it. Or maybe I knew about it and completely ignored it/forgot it? Who knows... Thanks for the info though, I'll look into it!

I was pretty tempted to go myself but I hate Terminal 5. :(

Though I'd like to see them live, I preferred the other previous albums more. I enjoy singing A Favor House Atlantic on Rock Band, fun song to do.. and since the game takes eons to add any songs I'd like, it's the only 1 of 2 Coheed and Cambria songs one is even able to jam to on there. On as side note, kudos to Halcyon's Way (hey Steve! Lol) for somehow having the blessing of their album being made available on there March 3rd from what I hear, when most of the European, Progressive, Melodic, Power Metal scene has been left out. Which I believe will also be more songs than they posted of Coheed and Cambria.

I've only been to Terminal 5 once, and that was for the Opeth Anniversary show. I didn't mind the venue as much, though can't really remember it. The one thing that stuck to me was how difficult it was to leave the place due to the fact there was only one or two visible exits with thousands of people trying to leave at the same time...

This happens to be the same night Symphony X is playing NYC. Ugh. I hate decisions like this. I would rather see SymX at the Best Buy theater than Trocadero in Philly. But I really want to see this Coheed show and Sayreville is 10 minutes from my house! DANG!

Symphony X
Nevermore
Soilwork

All at Best Buy Theater, in one of the most exciting cities in the world.

I like Coheed and Cambria, but I *really* don't see the dilemma there.

Tempting, but it is a couple days before I see Rush in Baltimore and I'm not sure how that will go over with the wife. Also, Second Stage is probably the album I'm least familiar with, mostly because I only have it in MP3 form and I can't listen to it at work.

For me it's the easy choice because I think Symphony X is better live than Coheed (saw them opening for Slipknot at MSG), and I generally like them more as a band. Thought the latest Nevermore CD was one of the biggest disappointments of the decade though so I'll probably show up late.

I can understand that. I happen to really like Symphony X, Nevermore and Soilwork. I think it's a friggin' brilliant package. Soilwork's last two albums weren't so impressive, and honestly, nor was Nevermore's (though I think it's a very solid effort). That being said, all three bands usually put a great live show. Plus, you really can't get a better venue to see a show like that than the Nokia. I'm excited as hell about the show, and the only reason why I'm showing up late is so I don't need to deal with goddamn Powerglove.

BTW, you coming to this date? I hope you won't pull another Neil-to-Jasonic and stop by to say hi to us!

Kind of depressing news, so decided to tack it onto an existing thread instead of starting a stand alone on the subject:
Bassist, Michael Todd was apparently arrested for armed robbery immediately before they were suppose to open for Soundgarden at the Comcast Center in MA. According to reports, he went to a pharmacy and claimed he had a bomb in order to get Oxycontin. If it's true, he definitely has a problem. I kind of feel for him, sort of, because that drug is prescribed very negligently by many. I know, they pushed it on me big time when I broke my ankle. After 5 days, I got scared of the stuff and switched to wine. Better the devil you know.

BTW, here's the band's statement. The show will go on:
"Michael Todd was arrested today on what we consider very serious charges and therefore he will not be finishing up the current tour. Wes Styles, long time member of the Coheed family will take on bass duties starting tomorrow for the remaining dates. No shows will be canceled.
We are surprised to say the least and will address the situation with Michael after the tour. For now, we just want to have a great time out here and finish with some killer shows in Boston, Poughkeepsie, Quebec City and Halifax."

Saw this when someone posted something on FB from the Coheed camp. I was disappointed to say the least. Anyone who would pull this shit is an epic ass, and even moreso right before a show. Yes, it's less him doing it than his addiction, but to be a repeat offender, in a band with a respectable name at this stage in the game... No. I really think the Coheed camp needs to put their foot down with this issue and find someone who will not endanger their reputation. I don't know why more bands don't take a zero tolerance policy.

Because I think they're more concerned with getting help for a friend/someone they lived with for all these years than acting like shareholders at Microsoft.

I agree. But is it worth risking your band's reputation and possibly your career over it? You can still be friends without being bandmates.

Plus, as with ANY type of addiction there is, it's the addict's fault. If the consequence is leaving the band, well, it's his own fault. He needs to accept it as a result of his actions. It's that simple.

Oh I am sure they will kick him out, but I think their "reputation" doesn't really mean anything in this context. I mean, okay this is the first person in rock and roll with a drug problem so fair enough. :heh:  :P

I mean, Vince Neil killed a guy for pete's sake because his own alcoholism and went to jail for it. I don't think it really affected Motley Crue's ticket sales and popularity haha.

When you're arrested for bomb threats to steal oxycotin minutes before you're supposed to hit the stage, you're doing a disservice to your band and your fans in two ways. You're putting the entire show in jeopardy, and could cause your future to go down the drain. "Coheed and Cambria? Aren't you the guys who had to cancel the show at the last minute because your bassist was out stealing drugs? I think we'll go with someone else."

Yes. Reputation.
