It is mostly about people getting irritated by our personal comments and putting a band in the wrong category.

Most of those complaints were completely invalid. Genres are such a touchy subject with people, but so many bands don't fit within them, so you have to take your best guess or combine genres (apparently the one guy didn't realize that each album was labelled with a genre, not just the band overall).

As for the personal comments, they are as much a part of the site as the straight factual data is. Knowing about a band is useless unless you know something of what they sound like, and unfortunately describing a band's sound will lead to opinions being shared.

I've received way more compliments than complaints, but it is interesting to see what people think of the site.

Well it wasn't any of us. It's actually pretty widely used. This site, for example, is called "Doom-Metal.com":

Candlemass is probably where it came from, with "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus". I'm sure you're joking though, since it is one of the major genres.

Also the name might've come from one of Black Sabbath's doomiest songs, Hand of Doom.

I don't think you're a meanie Smekerman. You were being ironic; my post was for the benefit of anyone from the Iced Earth board who dropped by and didn't realise that!
