compressor alternative.

I tend to use the Sonalksis SV-315 Compressor for most of my compression needs.

it got the job done marvelously, but as of late, it's been glitching and I'm not sure what the problem is. I reinstalled it as well to see if it'd help but it didn't help.

so I'm looking for a good alternative.
I need a nice character compressor for metal/hardcore.

also, you should know that I'm stuck with the worst options these days (RTAS/AU) as I run a mac. (seriously, no one makes good plugins for macs anymore. somewhere along the line, we decided not to care about making plugins for the industry standard computers. haha)

I don't care if I have to buy it. however, if you know of a somehow amazing free plugin, then by all means, fill me in!

I have a full length project coming up in Nov, so I need to get my hands on something soon so that I can get used to it's colour.
