compressor keeps crackling

I just bought my first compressor a Joe meek c2. Im trying to "reamp" some vocals through the compressor keeps crackling. I'm not sure if its the way its set up or if its just the compressor. I know its not a buffer issue because I see the channel popping. The way I have it set up is the outs from my profire plugged into the ins of the compressor. Then I plug the outs of the compressor line in into my ada 8000. I created a bus in cubase and I'm sending a vocal out of the outs of the 2626 to the compressor. I've tried the left and right channels on the c2

probably clipping somewhere? maybe coming back into your ADA8000? how much dB reduction are you seeing on the comp?

I bought it used and the meter is broken but it crackled with 0 db and maxed out
