Need to buy my Mum a device to get her online . She is in her 60's and
a technophobe . I need to get her the most piss easy netbook/whatever
to operate and something that will be reliable and not cost a fortune . Thought about an iPad but it's a bit more cash than I want to spend . Any suggestions would be appreciated .

The Google Chromebook is supposed to be relatively painless for this kind of thing, so I'd give that a look. An iPad might be a good idea, and the reconditioned ones can be quite cheap, but for some reason touchscreen's are like witchcraft to some older people aha.

There's a whole market out there of cheaper tablets. iPad is mainly just the brand name version everyone's aware of.

yes, but lets face it, tablets wouldn't really have took off without it. so i think it's fair to say that it's also a quality standard.

there's the chance that some cheap tablet just isn't intuitive enough to hold interest, technophobe or not - so at least take your time to check out online reviews for android tablets before buying.
