Concerning Parallel Compression!

hey dudes!
i´ve got a question:
i know hot parallel compression works,but the point is:
it´s said that you have to compress the duplicated track "to the wall" etc.

but what is it exactly when you push the compressor that far?!?
is it just "cranking up every parameter"?!?

Ratio 1:50
threshold- 40
attack??
release???
