He talks mostly about his new album, but here's the part about the upcoming SymX album, loosely translated by me:

What's up with the new Symphony X album?

Things are going great. It's different to what we're used to, but in a good way. The songs are very solid. I've never heard Mike playing riffs this good. Now he's writing excellent riffs, that have an enormous flow. And I'm a soul-man, as you can hear on my solo album, and I can really work with this kind of stuff directly. This really has a nice groove. I haven't heard alot of bombastic orchestrations so far. It's all very moody, but also threatening. Mike's riffs are heavy, and also very dark.

Is 'dark' a keyword for the new stuff?

I think so. There's something very mystique about the new songs.

And the release is scheduled for October?

Yeah, something like that. Definately before the end of the year. We're already booking tourdates, so we'll have to manage to get the album done in time. I think that's a good thing, because now we have some kind of deadline. I mean, you can keep polishing an album in eternity, but you just gotta know where to stop. If we're going to begin touring in October, we'll have to get practicing in September, so in that case the album should be done in July. So we have a deadline.

That's it, sorry for any misspellings or grammatical errors.

The only thing I don't really like the sound of is that the big orchestrations are probably absent. The rest sounds promising enough to me, it will be great anyway, The Odyssey was great too.

They were absent on The Damnation Game, Divine Wings, and Twilight. I don't see why just because for two albums they had heavy orchestration that they need to continue doing it all the time. Bands change and evolve. Thats how they stay fresh through the years.
