CORONER reunion???

A little snippet from an interview on found on *some* website asking Baron about a new album:

*some website* said:
Radio Metal: You have always been clear in past interviews about the fact that CONONER would never reunite ever again. So, how comes you suddenly decided to play some shows again?

Tommy: Yes. Actually, this is not going to end up as a reunion. I mean, there won't be an album. But playing brings so much fun! For a very long time, I played a lot in the studio and I just missed playing live. Therefore I asked the other guys if they would be OK to play a few shows and they said, OK. Why not?" Actually, we haven't rehearsed yet. We're going to start rehearsing in a few weeks, I guess. Then we'll see. You know, the other guys haven't played for more than ten years. We will only go on stage when we are able to play as good as we did when we stopped; otherwise we won't do it.

Radio Metal: Aren't you missing composing music in the style CORONER was famous for?

Tommy: Yes, totally! But, you know, making a new album is kind of difficult… (Pause) Well, you never know. Maybe after four or five shows we'll get into it and say, "Hey! Let's do an album!" Nobody knows what's going to happen. We don't have a master plan. (Laughs)

That would be amazing!!!:kickass: I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

But if this happened there would then be so many PPUSA people whining about pit action. Of course it would not be a brutal as it was in the day Coroner were first over because that crowd is old now. Still when a thrash band is put in a live setting there is usually some action.
I'm to old for that stuff now and make back hurts, but to see such bands live without it being present seems to take something away from the experience.
Some may disagree, usually it is those who weren't there the first go round so they can't understand.

Your post reminded me of a thought I had recently but didn't think it warranted its own thread, but has to do with thrash metal bands playing live and moshing. I don't know what it's like in other parts of the world (never been to a Europe or Asia show) but I have yet to see a thrash metal show here that did NOT have a pit. I haven't moshed since I was like 18 and since then I've shared the mild annoyance of other nonmoshers that moshing usually takes place in the best viewing area of the venue: middle-center. Since, as we know, there's no moshing at PP, the Paradox set may offer one of the most unique things in American live metal: a thrash show without a pit. This will be one of our only chances to watch a high-energy thrash metal band from the prime viewing area (of course, almost every part of Center Stage has a great view, but my main point is the middle-center area will be stable). I find that pretty cool and hope to enjoy it since it may never happen again!

Still seems like something is missing even if I can't do that stuff anymore.
Going to see bands like Death Angel now and it not having as much of a presents or the cray stage diving just seems to drop the energy level.
As for Paradox well I'm not especting much of the first two albums, though I'm hoping. They are the only band in this year's line up that I'm excited about.

Jackal is like Rush on crystal-meth. I was ALWAYS amazed just how much music they could make as a three piece unit. One of the most underrated bands of all time. They were way ahead of their time.

I agree 100%. I don't mosh at PPUSA because I am too old, most of the bands aren't "right" for it and it is not allowed and I don't want to get thrown out. When I was in my 20's though....... moshing and stage diving were part of the fun and action of thrash music. When Slayer was in their heyday..... the pit was usually HUGE !! Stage diving during Pantera and others was also great.

Are MDF appearances usually TRULY exclusive, or is that a loose term which really means "exclusive until the promoter sells enough tickets to allow the band to then have free reign to book a full tour"???

For the most part, MDF exclusive = no other dates.

They did say "US" exclusive. That statement would seem to allow them to do a Canadian show or two.

Dude, these bands are so underground I just don't know 'em all. I've not heard Inquisition, I've not heard DropDead, or Lock Up. I just worry sometimes about these bands that the forum dudes love, because I don't know which ones are crust-punk/hardcore and shitty grindcore.

But I do know Miasmal now, and they are old school death metal awesome.
